This "little big" kit depicts the 300-ton heavy-lift, barge-mounted crane in use at Kure Naval Shipyard in Japan during WWII. Among the crowded piers and activity of Japan's busiest shipyard, it must have still claimed significant attention on the waterfront for its size and role in construction numerous ships, including the IJN BBs Yamato and Musashi.
Tomy Tec had previously released this as a pre-painted/colorized plastic model as part of a multi-kit set with a RC 1:700 Yamato, various small-craft accessories, and dockyards. Now these kits have been re-released in unpainted plastic.
The kit is comprised of two sprues of finely-cast injection plastic. The barge measures 4.5 inches in length, about 4/5 the length of an IJN destroyer in this scale. When constructed, the crane will stand nearly four inches tall.
Even cast in plastic, there is significant detail to the crane's main structure, and this kit only falls short failing to offer the see-through look on the gantry that would come with PE. Worth noting that there are four injection points on one side of the gantry that will require careful removal before painting and assembly. These are obvious to the eye, and noted in the instructions as well.
A unique and eye-catching vessel, readily paired with Pit Road's new IJN special transport Kashino or your planned or existing IJN dockyard diorama. This looks to build quickly in plastic, with painting requiring minimal masking.
An historical image and instructions for this kit are available here:

Along the way, found this interesting post-war Naval Intelligence report on the Kure Naval Yard, with some pages dedicated to this 300-ton crane:
