Glue for Assembly of Painted Plastic Model Assemblies

by Steve » Mon Oct 14, 2019 9:15 am

Which is the best glue for attaching painted sub assemblies (enamel or acrylic) without first removing paint in the seam or contact areas? Many of my older kits were sub assembled and then painted using colors that are today "unknown" as to brand or may have been done in both enamels and acrylics. These kits were then stored (for many years) in their original boxes.

My first preference is a thin plastic cement that can be easily flowed into the joint. My concern is that plastic cement will migrate into visible areas which I can not color match. The option is using a thin CA glue but the potential for paint damage is unknown.
