To thin MM down after extended storage try laquer thinner and ONLY use the amount of paint you think you'll need. When you're finished painting discard any extra paint, DO NOT RETURN IT TO THE BOTTLE, it will ruin the rest of the paint. For a new bottle of paint use the recommended thinner, I'm not good with acrylics so I can't give a method there but for enammels or lacquers thin them with no more than 50/50 thinner. The best method I've heard for recognizing a good mixture for airbrushing is when you can get a drop of paint to dance across the surface w/out breaking surface tension you're there. Back to MM and it's thinner and used paint, NEVER returned unused mixed paint to the bottle, it will cause the pigments to set and ruin the bottle. :thumbs_up_1:

My opinion is that thinned paint simply won't store. It will separate and get grainy. Had a lot of problems with this until i stopped thinning paint in the jar.

I've had that happen to my enamel blacks and my first jar of Flat Gull Grey. I'm not sure, but I think it's because of the thinner I put straight into the jar. I believe that if you use the paint brand's thinner, the problem will go away.

Does anyone besides me have a problem with thier paints
going bad fast. What I mean fast is like in a year of so.
Ive always used Model Master Paints, and for some reason
the pigment always gunks up into an unuseable ball of useless
gunk. I have tried thining it out with mineral thinner but most of
the times its useless. I keep my bottles closed tight after each
use so I don't understand why this keeps happening. I use
to like to keep a large selection of paints available for use, but
now I find I am wasting my money by buying anything except
what I intend to use in the near future.
Any takers on this problem
