I have just finished reading the astonishingly innovative and courageous story of the raising of the scuttled Imperial German high seas Feet at Scapa Flow at a time when diving and salvage technology was still at the R&D stage....!
I really want to give this book to my father-in-law, who alas cannot speak english....
the book is called 'THE MAN WHO BOUGHT A NAVY'
author is Greald Bowman
originally published by Harrap in 1964
the edition I have in english dates from 1998.
It appears to be apprivate reprint--ergo no ISBN number.
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers! it is now a modelmaking weekend--yipee!

Jim,
I did a little bit of searchin around through various library catalogues, and I fear apart from his War in the Air and a book on the race to the South Pole Bowman's books haven't been translated into German.
However, there is a book on the raising translated into German:
"Vom Skagerrak nach Scapa Flow : die Hebung d. versenkten deutschen Flotte, eine techn. u. seemnnische Grotat der Schiffsbergung" by S. C. George; Stuttgart : Motorbuch-Verlag, 1975, ISBN: 3-87943-378-X.
