Where does an outgoing SecNav get off naming carriers that aren't even ordered yet? And really not a good idea to have two carries named USS George Bush at the same time.
We've pretty much all been saying it, but it seems to me that with just a couple months to the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington, it's a great opportunity to change the naming convention back to the classic carrier names. Rescind both of these two names for sure and give us Lexington and Saratoga.
And, to be honest, Doris Miller is certainly a hero well worthy of honor, but his name should be on a destroyer, not a carrier. Bunker Hill's 250th is coming up soon, too.
