Hi guys.
This is my first post on this forum. I've been trolling around here for a while reading your posts and looking at your models and that inspired me to try a ship. BTW, you all build some awsome stuff.
I mostly build modern jets and I know practically nothing about warships. I wanted to try my hand at it to see if I would like it. I definitely did and I think I will be buying a few more.
Anyways, here's my first try. Its the Hasegawa 1/700 USS Ticonderoga. Like I said...I know very little about Navy ships and I'm sure that there are all kinds of inaccuracies in my build but I just wanted to get my feet "wet." Plus, I got the kit for $19 so I wasn't going to cry over it if I screwed it up. I know that one of the hull colors is incorrect but oh well...you live and you learn. I'm not happy with the rust stains, either, so I might redo those.
I'm also going to put it in water. I bought some Liquitex acrylic gel and I've been practicing on a scrap piece of plastic. I'm happy with the way my test water turned out.
Hope you enjoy:
P.S. The flash really makes the little flaws stand out. Its not so bad in normal lighting.
