I think I have most of it that is of any use for Exeter thanks. If you can figure out the russian and be prepared to wait then there is some useful stuff on there.

HI Laurence,
There's not a great deal in the Friedman book but would appreciate it if you could keep looking.

I think I have most of what I need for Exeter now, mainly cobbled together from a number of places and backed up with York references to fill in the gaps.

Cheers
Mike

Ok no worries the only other things I think of at present is 2 Ark Royal Books I have somewhere.

1 is terrible and not fit to act as a door stopper :lol_1:

the other is a nice wartime booklet which may have some on board photos in.

Other than those I havent found my copy of Friedman's Brit A/C book or my Blundell one there maybe soemthing in there though doubtful.

Hi Laurence
I have a copy but it is a little difficult to interpret the plans, better than nothing however.

Or worse.......you find what you've been looking for AFTER you've finished the build. Happened to me before now.

Hi Laurence.
I'm looking for close shots of RN carrier, do they have close up photo of the deck tie-downs?
I'm working on Illustrious and also looking for reference for Ark Royal II. Can you help?

Here's a Matchbox Exeter built by one of my friend. The twin 102mm guns and the pom-pom are taken from Tamiya Hood. The walrus is from Tamiya POW. PE machine guns from Eduard. Railings is Voyager RN set. Life rafts from Pitroad universal parts. Other structures are made from styrene sheet and putty, detailed up by brass wires.

Yeah I tried to help Filipe with his York build all I could give him was some as built plans! This cruiser class in general seems very poorly covered!

Right I'll see what I can unearth on the mighty Ark, I may have some plans some where other than what you have.

The area around the boat handling apparatus I'm also aware is a knightmare to find stuff on Mike, but I'll keep digging!

HI Laurence,
Thanks but I have the Warship Profile. There seems to be very little else on this ship available at present. I may however take you up on the Ark offer, what mainly concerns me at the moment is details of the boat handling areas and the other access areas in the hull. Any photos taken close up enough to see anything seem to be taken from too low an angle to show any detail.

Mike I've got the Exeter warship profile in question if thats any use to you?

I can email it to you if that's any use, same goes for anything rare I've got on the Ark.

Cheers

Hi Peppe
Thanks, that would be great! I'm not sure how much email capacity I have but I think 1mb isn't a problem. My address is mikejillmc@aol.com.

Let me know if any problem,

The Raven & Roberts book does not contain any drawings of HMS Exeter and only two photos of Exeter in 1931 and the early 30s are contained.

There in the internet many photos, which show Exeter with damage of the battle.

I have a colour drawing of HMS Exeter in "Kriegschiffe von 1900 bis heute", which is the German translation of a book by Salamander books of 1979 (no English title there). The drawings come from the Warship Profile series and therefore are not be very trustworthy.
