Since you say that you are working on cargo and other large aircraft, I would put weight in the nose before your assemble the fuselage halves. I have a small container of various sizelead fishing weights. I usually cut them into smaller peices to fit in front of the fuselage. If the fuselage is all one piece, then you need to hollow it out or drill holes to insert the weight.


In smaller aircraft, I have 2 methods.

1. I drill small holes with and try to insert small pieces of lead into the nose.

2. If the aircraft's nose is too small, then I cut part of the nose off the aircraft and replace it with a piece of lead. I then use a knife and sanding sticks to recreate the original nose profile. This doesn't mean that I cut off the tip of the nose. I usually end up cutting a large groove near the nose and insert the lead there.

If you don't intend to glue them down, take a thin piece of stretched sprue and glue it to the bottom of the aircraft behind the main gear.

I am in the process of building some 1/700 scale aircraft. Several of the larger ones, cargo and recon, have too much weight in the tail. So when they are placed on a table, the noses are in the air.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to wiegh the noses down?
