Guys

Any idea what colour the deck would be on the blue paint scheme? Is the deck blue too?

If you want to venture into the "what-if" realm, the Naval Historical Center has these Camo sheets depicting an unused pattern for the BB-57 Class. It was intended for BB-59 but went unused. Would certainly make for a unique build and would probably fool many people.

Scroll down to the BB-57 Class.

Navsource has several photos of SOUTH DAKOTA during her shakedown period in Ms 12mod ... http://www.navsource.org/archives/01/57a.htm ...

She wore Ms 12mod during her shakedown ... not sure for how long after that. I don't which kit you have, but back-fitting to mid-1942 with quad 1.1-in mounts would be an interesting project.

PS: I have not looked for any early camo info for SOUTH DAKOTA here, but you may want to check out the Calling All SOUTH DAKOTA class Fans to see if this topic has been discussed there at ... viewtopic.php?f=47&t=8415

I think MS-21 overall 5-N Navy Blue is about as exciting as she's going to get. Shipcamouflage.com lists her with MS 12 mod for a time in 1942, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to find pictures of her in that scheme (it wasn't a standard pattern - the ships pretty much painted their own individual pattern however they liked, so you don't have pictures of it, you won't find an official diagram anywhere).

Guys

Anyone know of a unique camouflage pattern for the S Dakota? I'm getting bored of painting ships plain grey!!

Thanks
