Sure thing! You want just the Nav Bridge or the Flag Bridge as well?

Getting both would be great actually, if you could. Thanks again!

Will do! I have photos of the 05 already if you're interested in them as well.

Not a photo request here, but a general question. Are the screws still on 64, as she sits today? Anyone know about the other battleships as well?

Just curious (I'll delete this post in a few days, to avoid any possible thread highjacking in the future).

This article of Missouri's 2009 drydocking includes a photo of her with the props still on: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/artic ... 07022.html

From what "I've been told" BB-64 is screw-less. I think that has to do with her and BB-61 remaining on the NVR the longest and the fact that the USN owned her for her first 10 years as a museum ship. They kept her in immaculate shape and dehumidifiers running all over, all the time. Our screws in a warehouse somewhere in storage but could have been scrapped for all I know by now. They were supposed to in storage while the USN owned her. After the city took over...I don't know... I'll see if I can find out.

Channell, I'll get you your bridge photos later this week. I haven't forgotten :thumbs_up_1:

Several notes:

the planking ends in the flag bridge area, there is a bulwark separating the flag bridge from the area aft. the awarthships inclined ladder to the 02 deck was not present during WWII, just a vertical ladder at this spot. The 51and 52 mounts do not have sight hoods, this varied during the ships life. The hoods were attached with a couple of bolts. Note the portside ladder between the port bridge wing and the flag level was removed on the museum ship for crowd directional control.

Channell, I was able to get about 100 shots of our Flag and Nav Bridges but the last few weeks have been far from the greatest for me. I'll sort through them and get them uploaded in the next day or so. I'll be going back again this week so if you have anymore requests ask away.

Cliffy B -

Any possiblity that you could provide actual measurements of the Navigation bridge windows and 03 Level Adm. Bridge windows (width x height) and also the space between windows? All the chatter about the window sizes has prompted this request.

FYI - your photos are proving to be an excellent source of reference. Thanks so much.

Cliffy

Hope things are going well! Strewn about the superstructure decks are small white lockers with what appears to be a vent on top. What are these for? Life preservers?

Regards. Tom

Hank, the window panes measure 25" across by 35" high. I missed the vertical frames/supports between the panes (end of day rush sorry) but from eyeballing them, they're about 1-2" at MOST. I'll get the exact width later this week. Point of interest, ALL of the window panes, both Flag and Nav bridge are ALL the SAME SIZE.

Tom, any white lockers on deck are "ready service lockers" and usually contain ammo or some other combustible material, hence the white paint for heat control. You'd have to ask me about specific lockers if you want to know which ones were used for what.

Cliffy B,

Thanks so much - 25x35 is pretty much in the range of the Pontos PE set (I can't recall the exact measurement I took on the part), so that's what I'll go with on the bridge.

Thanks for the Pics, Tom!

Mike- thanks again!

On my build, I'm thinking about doing the windows in styrene as the pontos PE is awful flimsy and lacks the "I" beams which make up the window sides. There should be some thickness in the frames to make them look right, in other words.

I've got an old pair of ear buds that (when the wire is stripped) would make excellent conduit line bundles for the ceiling of the bridge.

I also promised myself that I would work from the bottom up on this build instead of jumping all over the ship so it will be a while before I get to the bridge, but it's the part of the project I'm most excited to tackle.

That's perfect! These pics will really help me on my build! :woo_hoo:

A couple of questions:

The asphalt floor tiles look like the same stuff you'd see on the floor of a supermarket (and are just just like the same area aboard the Iowa)... were they from the 80's refit? If so, what was on the bridge deck in WWII and is it still under the asphalt tiles? Also, are the wood grain interior panels original? Again, the Iowa has them but the Missouri doesn't... unless they have been painted over on the 'Mo.

You are truly lucky to be able to volunteer on the the Wisconsin, Mike. I'd do truly unholy things to wander around any of the Iowas free of tourist restrictions for just one day.
