Nothing, NOTHING beats the look of an old dreadnought. Please share any more images you took, if you do not mind.

I was just there this past weekend with my friend. Incredible machine, great to see her after all the scares of leaks/lack of funds. We drove from FL to see her and were happy to drop some donations in their 14inch round on deck, along with some good gift shop purchases. I hope they can save this ship - they were doing a lot of restoration on the whaleboats and fore/aft deck as well.

Not to steal the thread, just a few shots from the iPhone this weekend. Awesome experience! Hard had would be COOL to do, though we couldn't make it. Unfortunately they have the third deck and engine room closed off (except for hard hat tours).

Great to see recent photos of the ship, and it got me wondering what the latest news of her is.

So apparently the dry-berthing plans got tossed out, due to insufficient funding.
It's an unbelievable shame...this ship needs to get out of salt water like a penguin needs to get out of a desert.
Yet, 26 million people live in Texas. Is it too much to ask that each family donates a dollar for the number of people in their household?
Just ask...don't tax. Make it voluntary, and I bet they'd get at least 70% participation. All it takes is one state-wide press conference from the governor or GWB.

It's the State's namesake battleship for crying out loud!
