Check out this 3D printed Charleston Class Gunboat! Look at how big it is, erm how small it is! The detail is really getting up there :cool_1:

I'm not sure what's cooler, the amount of detail in it or the fact that they made such a rare subject.

It's not stated what scale this is; 1/700 or smaller? I'm not familiar with this type of gunboat. Is this a single piece printing? :wave_1:

Looks to be about 1:1200. To have an eleven hour print cycle for this on a high end industrial machine would be quite expensive!

Eventually such technology will make one question just what is scratch building.

Yup. They're in like the playing Castle Wolfenstein stage now. I'm sure in 5 years we'll really be tripping.

Hey, just add water! Cool stuff, nonetheless.

Take a look through Shapeways catalog http://www.shapeways.com/ They've got everything, including the kitchen sink, in any scale you can think of! I'm doing more and more shopping there for 1/48, 1/72, 1/144 figures and all kinds of accessories. :wave_1:
