With the great success of the cruiser GB, I think we should do another. This time it's escort craft, basically any surface vessel smaller than a destroyer. Frigates, corvettes, minsweepers, patrol craft, etc all fit into this build. If you're unsure about what is and is not an escort vessel, just say what you want to build and I'll let you know if it counts. Rules:

Runs November 10th 2007 to January 31st 2008

Any surface escort vessel smaller than a destroyer. This includes mine warfare craft, but not amphibious ships.

Aftermarket allowed. Scratchbuilding allowed. Any era is allowed.

You may enter at any time.

Participants:

AJB93-Commadant Riviere
Quincy-
Karsten-
Sean Hart-
DanCinSD-
nick-Arleigh Burke class
EPinniger-USN DE
Joe R.-USN DE

My entry will probably be a french minesweeper. Let's get this started! :thumbs_up_1: :eyebrows:

I still need to finish up the Kasuga for the last build but I am working on it.

I also found out I am in dire need of upgrading the camera so I can take a great picture......Then I wont be able to blame the camera for the models appearance :lol_3:

Working on that and the Windows XP upgrade at the same time.

So say something along the lines of the

Russian Gunboat Mandzur
Zuiekiev Topedo boat
Kolchida Dispatch Vessel
Lt. Burakov but that is a Destroyer (its little)

Count me in with a Destroyer Escort in 1/350, not sure which exact ship I will do yet.

I will get my cruiser group build photographed and posted later this week.

I'll definitely be joining this GB, though I'm not sure what to build. I'm planning on starting the Mirage 4-piper HMS St.Albans (in mid-war convoy escort fit) soon, but this is a destroyer so doesn't count.
I have quite a few large-scale kits of modern fast attack craft, but I'm not sure those really fit into the category of escort vessels?

I'm going to build either a Momi or Wakatake class DD as converted to a Patrol boat or both.
Which ships, to be determined?

The YMW one. Very good in some accounts. Not as good in others. I will submit a report to the Gallery when finished, but if you are looking for some specific bits of info, let me know what I can do for you.

Cheers.
Pachi.

Questions:

Do gunboats count?

Must the kit be built during the time frame or may one submit a kit that one has built previously?

I'd also like to know if a USN destroyer escort (DE) is OK for this group build (I know it has "destroyer" in its name, but it's really more of a frigate in terms of size) - I'd like to build an Atlantic convoy escort for this GB, and the only suitable kits I have smaller than a destroyer are Buckley- and Rudderow-class DEs.

I will enter USS VILLALOBOS for the competition.

She is nearly complete only requiring paint touch-ups and rigging.

How about a USS Haynes from the Enemy Below? Does that fit the criteria?

My entry - USS VILLALOBOS (PG-42). VILLALOBOS was aquired from the Spanish Navy in Cavite after the Spanish American War and served in USN into the late 1920s in the Philippines and China.

She is scratch-built 1/700 scale; I used a variety of PE including Atlantic and GMM. There are two lewis guns on the bridge port and starboard just discernable. The awning is paper; there are deck details beneath such as skylights. Intake cowls behind stack, and the guns, are from the Sealsmodels IJN/RN detail set cut to size. Masts are of wire and stretched sprue as is the rigging. Boats are spares from other kits. I scratch-built the davits.
