hmm, I am interrested, some detail is useful for my nimmo and when the time arrives, I need some artwork too, like the nimitz teamwork tradition emblem.

Are you glad you finished most of your decalwork by now Rouyax?

Get your Big E ready for Battle!

Indeed Duncan, I'm more than Happy to finally having finished all Decalwork !!!
I can now concentrate my work on the aircrafts and the carrier ONLY ! :dead:
I've completed photoetching and painting on 12 F18's, 5 S-3's. Only 1 F14, 1 E2C, 1 EA-6B and 1 S3B are complete with decals and armament...
For the moment, I'm going nuts :censored_2: :censored_2: photoetching and painting 11 more F14's. I'll have to build 2 more EA-6B's, 1 more E2C and 4 HH and SH60's.... :mad_2:
The Hull is 2/3 complete, all platforms and sponsoons corrected or scratchbuilt in place, and painted.
The Island is 90% complete, and thanks to Marcos JB work, I'm superdetailing it.
All walls in Hangar Deck ready for painting and decaling. Lighting will be done using four 50 cms led bands glued above the hangar ceiling cutting 40 rectangular openings in styren sheets.
Finally, will have to glue 500+ handling personnel on deck !!!!
I'll post when hangar will be finished.
:wave_1:

Rouyax,
Your dedication to doing a thorough job shines through in how comprehensive those decal sheets are!
I am shocked and elated that you happen to be depicting the exact deployment that I'm also modeling and I'll be doing the hangar deck too! So you are blazing the trail I'll be following!

So I should say THANK YOU for making my project all that much easier now! :thumbs_up_1:

BTW: You're having "fun" with your airwing? I'm doing TWO complete airwings for myself and a friend. :heh:

I made a set of decals from CVW-17 mid 90's for my Big E refit. I love the work that you have done on the airwing and the hanger deck. I have been working off and on with this project for a couple of years now and I am at an impass. How are you doing the various Satelite Domes for the ship. I have found the Airwing pretty easy but the mods to the Tamiya kit for the mid 90's is holding me up. I would love to see some pics of the ship and how you are doing the different mods.

Mark,
I'm currently in Saudi Arabia for work and don't have pics of working progress on the kit concerning the domes and various scratchbuilt platforms for 2001's version on my laptop. Will post some as soon as i get back home. As i had no plan available for platforms and domes dimensions, i guessed them from photographs and i'm pretty happy with the result. Perhaps i'll post also the measures in 1/350th scale if that's what you're looking for. :wink_1:
Concerning the various satellite domes, for the smaller ones i used chunks of 2.5 and 3 mm plastic rods, and the bigger ones i used chunks of wood dowels, primed and painted them pale grey. :cool_1:

Looks great!!! I really like the weapons on your Hornets as well. I will probably end up doing those as well. I did 4 months in Saudi right before the war at Prince Sultan Airbase. It was hot in October, I will bet it is a wee bit warm now!

You're right mark, it's awfully hot in Ryaddh these days (45°C during the day, 36°C at midnight) but it more bearable in Jeddah ( Only... 36°C during the day).
Here are some more pics of platforms :

Hi rouyax, great work, I am in the midst of trying to do something similar, however I have couple of questions for you... by how much did you extend the Port side CIWS platform by? and secondly, I am having trouble deciding what the port side SLQ 32 mount should look like and where the ducting under it goes to? If you can help I would appreciate.

Chris
