Great Pictures and the day looks an outstanding success. It looks like you were also blessed by good weather. Many British warship modellers visit the shows in Germany. One day it would be superb to hold an all European Navy day ? So we could all meet up and have one big warship event?

Outstanding. The Scharnhorst is particularly impressive!

Outstanding idea Dave. In 2016 I would love to participate in a meeting of international warship modelers somewhere at Denmarks west coast to celebrate the anniversary of BoJ.

Believe me, the IGKM would be happy to show up at warship meeting anywhere in Britain. What event would be your choice, Dave?

It would be simply superb to get such an event off the ground. I know here in the UK there would be a lot of interest with warships right across the period spectrum. We must talk more?
Den Helder navy day was the event for the warship modeller but that was some years ago.

Am I wrong, or is there also an annual navy day in Greenwich? If so, maybe thats the place to go and bring our harbour with us... :shipcaptain:

@ all

A 4-Minute-video about the meeting in Hamburg is online now also. Requires QuickTIme 7.

Enjoy :wave_1:

Sadly Greenwich ended years ago. It was a superb event and in the right place. Like Hamburg, Glasgow is a superb venue but to encourage other enthusiasts around Europe to take part the Netherlands would seem an ideal location. There are a number of large shows in the UK with fine waters. Beal Park, Weymouth, Birchwood, Portsmouth, Chatham dockyard. Just to name a few all with excellent facilities and transport links. Such an event would attract a large number of warship enthusiasts and be a great spectacle.

Hi All

I am truly very interested in a European event.
I am sure there would be a large group of people interested in a European Warship
weekend. What a great swapping of ideas and culture.
The Netherlands sound perfect. (Reasonably easy access into the Netherlands from all the main areas within Europe and easy access to there from Gt. Britain.)
WHAT DO WE NEED?
1. Venue within the Netherlands?
2. A date to hold the event. (Good weather, warm.)
2.A group within the Netherlands able to organise venue etc.
3.Open to all warships. (No scale restrictions.)
4. Like people with like interests getting together for a weekend.
5. content of the event. (Not too formal.)

I think we need a list and then see where that might lead us!

WHO IS INTERESTED OUT THERE?

Regards
Phil

Hi Laurent - you just volunteered to organize the meeting in August 2008 somewhere in the Netherlands

Oooooops ! :help_1: :pout:

OK , two solutions are viable , I think :

- contact the dutch naval base at Den Helder , to ask them if they are preparing some naval days next year ( I have my contacts there )

- contact one of those dutch naval modelling clubs , I know some are really active on the modelling scene ( I have some contacts through a dutch message board )...

I'll try both solutions ...

Regards ,

Laurent
