Model Maniac,

That kit doesn't include PE does it? It includes plastic railings, right? A friend picked one up and it had PE railings in it but I don't think the kit was sealed so I think they were dropped in. I think I saw plastic railings on the sprues.

Jon, if your friend picked up the AFV Club "Chung Kung" Taiwanese version, then that one comes with some PE railings and resin parts: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10088910

Jonathan,

The kit doesn't come with PE, only plastic railings. I made clear in my post that this is

MK1 is a Korean company. A fellow modeler helped ordered it from an online site for me. :wave_1:

Hi all,

Maybe I am wrong, but as I am building the same ship -- not this same model though -- and I am therefore quite familiar with this class, I would suggest the funnel is placed pointing in the opposite direction. As for the rest, the construction is amazing !!!!

Brgds,

Willie.

Nice clean build, but as Willie said, Funnel is wrong way around and the short hulled OHP's carried the SH-2 Seasprite helo.

Many thanks for more kind comments and compliments since my last reply. I really appreciate them!

Willie, where is the funnel? I'll look up the instruction sheets to see its direction. Maybe my modeler didn't look carefully.

tonphil1960, I'm afraid it's impossible for anyone including myself to build all the models on my site in a lifetime. I have five modelers working for me and three of them are very good ship builders. "Toom" is just one of the three. This list shows what ships they're building:

"Toom":
- Tamiya's IJN Battleship "Yamato" 1:350 w/ 3 sheets of local-made PE upgrade sets
-----

"Niphon":
- Hasegawa's IJN Battleship "Mutsu" 1:350 w/ full option PE/brass upgrade kits
-----

"Tazmanian":
- Tamiya's Japanese WWII Battleship "Musashi" 1:350 w/ local made PE parts (3 sheets)
- Revell's SMS Emden 1:350 w/ local made PE
- ICM's Markgraft Battleship 1:350 w/ local made PE
- Trumpeter's Russian Cruiser Admiral Lazarev (Ex Frunze) 1:350 w/ PE upgrade sets from Lion Roar
- Flagman's German U-Boat type VIIC carrying 4 midget submarines "Bibers" 1:350

Apart from warships, I collect armors, warplanes, figures and dioramas as well. My purchase record has registered
nearly 2,800 items! I've put a lot of money into them, my dream has materialized. :wave_1:

Thanks, Jimmy, for your illustrative explanation of the funnel. I looked up the instruction sheets and found that "Toom" who built this ship for me
didn't look at them carefully and made a mistake in the direction of the funnel tower. Thanks also for your comments on the build. More are coming... :wave_1:

G'day MM,

I have this one on the slipway to commence some time this year and have the MK1 PE as well - did yours come with some sort of instruction sheet or did you have to guess what everything was for - mine had no instructions (unlike the GMM PE I have received in the past) and I can see that some of what is there will be a challenge to work out.

cheers,

bj

Post subject:  Re: USS Oliver Hazard Perry FFG-7 1:350

Hi bj,

I wonder why your MK1 PE didn't come with instruction sheets. Where did you buy it? Mine come with the sheets and "Toom" used them in building this ship for me.

This evening when I'm back home I'll look for the sheets and if I find them I'll take pictures and post them here for you.
Without instructions it's almost impossible to get things right.
