Hi guys,

Still a bit of a novice but I thought I would share some pics of my 1/400 HMS HOOD. She is nearly there now.

I am amazed I have got this far on her as during a recent house move my misses dropped her :censored_2: and it shows on the compass platform!!

Just need to be a lot more patient with my paint I think.

Constructvie critisms please?

Sorry the photos aint great, like I said i'm still learning.

Good stuff Kieran!

Hood looks good and 1/1200 is a great scale to cut your teeth on.

Kieran, she looks great to me. All you really need is some rigging and PE railings and she'd be a real show stopper. I'd be proud to have her on my shelf.

Thanks guys,

Going to get the props and rails on in the next fews weeks. Like I said when she was dropped It broke the mainmast and the compass platform waiting for some mast section to arrive from airfix.

Thanks again fellas,

Kieran

Give yourself great credit for several things:

You completed your build!

You posted the results on this forum!

You've asked for feedback!

All this means the next build will be even better. There's so much and so many to learn from here. Hunt the board for tips and tricks, be willing to ask about techniques, products and tools, and be willing to sacrifice a build or two to learning something new

This is a nice, neat build, and drop-damage aside, looks very presentable.

Details are where you can focus on improvements. Matt finish paints would be one area to upgrade - the ship as a whole has too glossy an appearance. Weathering, particularly on the deck, to break up the monotone, would be one place to focus. Rigging and PE bring extraordinary improvements to any ship model - I'm just getting into PE myself and have not yet tried rigging.

I can name several tools that have improved my modeling results, but mostly it is the patience I've developed over the past few years that is the greatest skill I've brought to my modeling. Small progress is still progress, and there are days when it is best simply to walk away from the workbench rather than push further on a project.

Looking forward to new builds of yours!

D-Boy

Yours looks great and I agree with all said by the other guys....keep at it my friend you are hooked now!
