This is a 1/48 VPI2542 US Navy Carrier Fire Tractor It is a resin kit with crew. I wanted to try something resin, but didn't want to get into the cost of a ship and find out it wasn't for me.

This had a few firsts for me. Resin is the main one, but I also tried using a wash. I was told I could use either dish washing soap or future. I used future since it was on my desk. Next time I will use the dish washing soap. The future seemed to dry and made it hard to remove.

The light from the camera made the hoses shine a little, but they are flat. The AFFF bottles are a small part of the kit, but they are perfect, and I feel they made the kit. I used the wire from an old light ballast for the forward fire hose. It was a little thick, so I stripped the insulation and was happy with that. The stick shift was not in the directions, but there is a spot for it. I used wire that I dipped in white glue for the knob. Lastly I added the hand holds for the back stand (which I left in the retracted position)
The gauges I added the dials, and for the temp gauge I added yellow, green and red. Once the paint was dry I added a drop of future to each one to simulate glass. Lastly I used white charcoal on the tires to age them a bit, and black on the floorboard to show all the boot scuffs.
This was a fun build, and I'm happy I chose it for my first resin kit. I spent some time on one of these while I was on the ship, and it was fun to do. As for the fireman I need to play around with the face a bit more before I call him done.
