It's been a while since I've been on here and all of my models from last year have been pushed to the back of my mind to make room for new projects. But not all hope is lost, one of my new projects is another model!

This time I chose to build the Empress of Britain III and I ordered the plans online so I will not have to worry about taping a whole bunch of papers together and I am already well on my way to actually finishing this one.

She will be RC and I also hope to give her working lights. She's in 1:200 scale which gives her a length of roughly 40 inches. I plan to paint her as her intended namesake i.e. the Empress of Britain.

Its nice to see something different every once in a while. Check your poll, the Canadian fit is winning out.

Yeah which is good on one hand cause I wont have to modify the stern but on the other hand I do so love the layout of the Queen Anna Maria.

the cp empress,s always seemed second fiddle to the big queens,but they have a soft spot in my heart because they are canadian.looking forward to your build.

Yeah, I'm quite conflicted. I really do like the Queen Anna Maria layout but it would put a tear in the eye of all the true patriots (not that I'm not one) who want to see her as the Empress. And all it would take to end my strife is a plan of the TSS Olympia. :\

Regardless of which ship I finish the model as, the bridge structure remains the same and so I have decided to begin work on it. After I post this I will begin tracing out the templates.

Planking has begun and I have many pictures to share. I am planking the model with 1/16" balsa in what can most accurately be described as eclectic patchwork.

Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted anything but I do have an explanation. I am currently out of 1/16" balsa and so I am waiting for a pack of 100 pieces that I got for a steal to come in the mail. While I've been waiting, there isn't much else I can do.

Below are some pictures of the few things I have accomplished recently.

Great to see progress on what I am sure will be a beautiful model liner.

It's been a while since I've posted anything and so here is a little bit of updated information.

I have planked about 75% of the hull so far and it is slow going from now on because all i have left to do are the complicated curves of the stern and the carving of the bow and stern blocks.

I have also began work on the boat deck as well as mapping out the circuits for the running gear and lights that i hope to include in the model.

I have 8 days left before I switch to full time at work for the summer and so I hope to get plenty more done on the boat deck as well as get some pictures of my progress posted.


Also if anyone has any pictures of the Empress, especially of the deck lamps that they could post i would be greatly appreciative.

Hi, I've got a model of the Empress of Britain (1956) that I found in an antiques shop in London. Its about a metre in length. Its a old model and the funnel is missing, but i'm interested in restoring it as its a beautiful ship and a great model. I have no idea of the models history but there is high level of detail and someone obviously took a long time to make it. If interested i'm more than happy to put some photos up

It's been a while since I've posted and my Empress of Britain project is on hold for now but I'm always happy to see any detailed photos of ships and models, they can be enigmas when not fully documented.
