hi guys,this will more than likely be the last post intill fall.weather is get to nice to be indoors.a few pics of portholes and hand rails , and one photo-etch radar,a moment of weakness but the one i made was not up to snuff.

Hello Russ,

Not sure if you are looking in till fall but here are some torpedo pictures of the Mk 44. I was aboard the USS The Sullivans today in Buffalo and found a dummy Mk 44 with the launcher on the deck. I know you were asking about some last Nov so hope these help.

does anyone know of a kit for the 3" gun in 1/96 scale,would save a lot of work.for now i am going to trye building my own,it will be wood sheeted with styrene,no sence casting it as there is only one.

thanks guys,its going to take a bit to get into the swing of things.the curved pieces of glass on the turret looked pretty tough to make but i found a way of making them .i used some plastic food containers that seemed to have the right curves to make the pieces.then lots of cutting and fitting,this is a rough fitting here.

Hello Russ,

Good to see you back at it. For the 3"/50, the only kits are open Mk 33 (twin) mounts.(good for early St. Laurent class) I have never seen a kit with the housing on it like you are building. I had to scratch build mine in 1/72.

well continuing on with the gun.been lots of filling and sanding to get all the curves and angles right.i think the shape is right now.still a lot of detail work to go.

3" gun is getting closer to being done,there was at lest 10 filling and sandings to get to here.next post will be the finished mount.
