wouldnt it be easier to cast the guns with lead ? ? I have toyed around with plaster of paris and got some decent results , maybe casting the guns with resin is another option theres a lot of options

Lead would make the model a bit top heavy and isn't that healthy at the end, I think. Since resin is much easier to handle, I would give it a try.

Best wishes
Lars

I plan to resin cast them, I was just seeing what kind of barrol I could lathe out on My Dremal hobby lathe (LOL) this barrol stretched the limit with the length. however I dont think it was to bad for just messing around. I have seen some wood toy kits for sale at the hobby stores and have thought about making wood turrets, and gun sets that wouldn't have to be in super acurate scale and detail, but more like a toy for 6 to 10 year olds. My older brother uses foam insulation sheets and hot knives for projects. I have thought that maybe I could make a simple hull shape, and ballest it, and put the wood guns and structures on top and it could float in a swiming pool. I'm just experimenting with the side ideas till I can fly on teh RC projects again. I have been determining all the WW2 German turret deminsions and drafting them. My older brother is Auto CAD formating them so when I can afford to buy the 3D printer we can produce them, however I think I can make some from othe materials, and resin cast them also, its just more time consuming. Thank You for the imput and interest though, You guys keep me going, because life tries to pull Me away all the time.

well my friend brought me some white metal a while ago and i mixed it 50 , 50 with lead . I must admit they are pretty strong because we used crackers to make them shoot . Haratio do you maybe have a extra set of 1:144 or 1:100 or 1:72 set of plans there that you would sell ? ? My worst enemy my side is to get plans of models i want to build . I just used the plaster of paris to make a resin mould with and it works great

sorry for the late reply D. Which ship would You like? I have the M class in 1/72 scale right now. It would cost about 30 to 50 dollars to mail it to your adress, I won't sell You the plans, as the plans for the M class I obtained from Germany from the originals, so I will give You the plans, I would just appriciate the covering of the Mailing and printing cost. I am acctually Drafting plans for the O class Battle Cruiser, The P class Panzer ship, and the Reconisance Large Destroyer - (Spahkruiser) so I would sell those at a latter Date as they are not finished and still under the pen as though to speak. I also have some line drawing copies of Prinze Eugan, and A Mine Sweeper design that I had obtained from the same source in Germany that I could send after scaling. If You would like the M class in 1/144, or 1/100, let me know. I am looking at posibly making a set in 1/87 scale to match a HO train diorama that a man here is working on. I still have Your adress in SA if it is the same, I just need to do more checking with the Postal Service here to get a beter price check, and have them weigh a Paper Tube container so I will have a better idea of the price. Will let You know, and tell me what You think. Your freind from the Ocean Front in Wyoming. Haratio.

Hello Haratio, :wave_1:

Long time no hear - Seems like you are creating a whole drafting and casting industry. Very good indeed. Just cannot wait to see more updates on the M- Class cruiser.

Take care.

I would suggest the resin casting method for the gun barrels with the addition of using a brass tube for the inner bore of the barrel (that's how APS models does their 1/72 gun barrels...). Your wooden barrel would make an excellent master for making the mold up. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Cheers Bruce

TY Hvy. That is what I was thinking. The brass in the center makes them look more like a real ship gun. I just need a beter lathe, which is in the works. Hello to You also Paul. I have been following along on Your project with great interest. I have been working on an aircraft project, and my Cars in the Yard, and It has kept snowing here up into april, the last to storms we have had have been worse than all winter. I have started working on Styrene CL34 150mm turrets for the Munich. Here are a few pics.

I have been working on my workshop and saving money for a Lath, and a 3D resin printer, along with learning the programing to draft CAD to use it. I ordered the first of 4 Laser resin machines and I have about 2 weeks to go and I can go to Denver to pick up a metal lathe. I have about 200 pages wrote about the ship designs for plan Z and am talking to publishing companies to see if I can get it published, but I need to finish writing and make the illustrations for it. take a quick look at the 1/350 Spahkreuzer post I added a couple photo's.
