Hello, what a great build. I have always loved the Jap battleships with their pagoda towers - look like castles on the sea. Can I ask what you are using for the cabling on your crane etc. Are you using a thin wire. How do you secure it at each end?.
cheers, Will

Those turrets came out great! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: i can see why some people would make a mold and cast these out of resin, recreating all 4 is a pain for sure.

I guess "glutton for punishment" is the appropriate comment here, is it ? For sure resin castings are quicker yet I know all too well the therapeutic effect of immersion into hours of plastic bits cutting and bonding.
Suddenly all the world's trouble disappear and your mental universe is swallowed at once into this futile and useless hobby... Just great !
Please go on Herbie, your work and very personal comments are always a pleasure : I love to feel the personality of the modelbuilder beyond the stark photos and purely technical comments.
Enjoy your spring : winter is coming - fast - here.
Stephane

its getting to the stage where without the hull, I can't really progress.
But I have found some more stuff to build .
About 30 hours, and another 30 dollars

I am going to "cheat"a bit, have ordered the Hasegawa Jake and catapult kit , I am over building the catapults as I built 2 for Yamato,

I have paid for the motors and shafts, ........but I need the hull.

I understand someone else in TF 72 has ordered a Kongo Hull too, do you want to swap notes or anything if you are following this

Great job on the cranes! It's amazing how light and airy those are when complete. I made a pair of those for my 1:192 Alaska, very satisfying when they are done. Getting them just alike? well can be a challenge!

Glad to see non PE, non 3D scratch building still going. Long vertical ladders always a challenge!

The club member down here that has one on order hasn't done anything yet, except get running gear from GT Sitek. He has a couple of other hulls bought years ago for a IJN Hvy crusier and WW1 HMAS Adelaide to keep him busy for now. Plus he's not really into online forums too.

Cheers Bruce

Hull? Highly over rated! You could make a waterline sunk at the dock model?

Hulls! Yes a wholly different area of model building.
