Hi Herbie,

I'm truly sorry you feel that way, but I understand why you do........ :(

The Akizuki mould will be laid up from early Monday morning to be finished on Wednesday. I finished waxing the plug with mould release yesterday. You will have your Akizuki hull done for you to pick up in December.

The Kongo class hull will be done ASAP, but that's all I can promise as far as time lines go. I have already broken my previous completion dates, much to my frustration.

I'm moulding 6 destroyers this coming week, then I'm finishing another 7 new plugs and moulding them in December and early January. When these jobs are done, my focus to finish will be the Kongo hull, the Harpers Ferry LPD, and the Udaloy class DDG.

I do have another Kongo hull order, but you will get the first one, as you ordered it first.

I will get it done, and you'll love the hull when you get it, I promise. :thumbs_up_1:

Thanks Bruce for your comments. :)

Hi Tim

Don''t get me wrong, I never lost faith, you just sounded so down last conversation.

I have invested a lot of time and money and faith into this project, one way or another it will be seen through!

herbie,

Your last project was the mammoth Yamato - at 1:72 it really was mammoth! And a beautiful model!

For the Kirishima you say "not as steep a learning curve." So I was wondering if it seems easier this time around?

Phil

Hi Phil

As Yamato was the very first model I had ever scratch built, the mistakes were many and varied!!!

I am just avoiding them this build (I hope)

Ie, can I get to couplings, can I remove the superstructure safely, what about fitting the lights as we go, not at the finish................

all those rookie mistakes

I am going to stick to my signature method, as much as possible plastic.

One day, I suppose I might learn to mould, or do PE........

Anyway, comments appreciated.

yes, and the skyscraper grows

I have always posted exactly as I build, letting the rough come with the smooth
Lots of work to do yet, and one mistake to fix yet, but its all aligned very nice, and the tripod fits perfectly, which was my
greatest worry.

anyway, 6 more hours.

But no extra dollars

Looking good mate! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Atleast with something as broadbeamed and deep draft as she is you don't need to worry about top weight so much! I mean you can use solid wood dowels for masts n such, whereas if you was building a IJN destroyer you would be building the mast out of brass or styrene tube.

On the Rc Yamato front Warner has said he will not be bringing his out again as its too hard on his back! So that cool (and wet) run with both Yamato's at Wentworth Fall's looks like it was a one off!! On a positive Yamato note one of the lads in Victoria is building Musashi!!

Merry Beermas!!

Bruce

man photo bucket sucks

Image

the tower slowly grows

despite so many different plans to look at, other models to look at, I still doubt if this deck will be 100 percent as it was

still, a challenging part to build, and , as always , still a lot to do.
The next deck will be even harder I think

Well the building continues

I travelled to Tims place yesterday, and picked up a Akizuki hull.
800 km round trip

While there, had a look at Kirishima slash Kongo hull and confirmed that we are on the same page
for the mould, which thankfully, we are..........and its going to be magnificent

Working on the deck in the meantime has been a good idea, by the time the main superstructures are finished, the hull
will be too

Cannot over emphasise the quality of Tims Destroyer hulls in particular.

Too hot to work today.........have put in another 24 hrs,, no extra dollars these last few days

Is that a picture of the hull mould at Tim's with your deck on it? Did you take any spare on the sides of your decks to be able to cut away if necessary?
I'd be concerned about the size and shape of my deck if I didn't have the hull available...
However you are making good progress on the build, even without the hull available, pretty amazing :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Hi
As we are both working ofbthe same profile morski plans i was pretty confident
There appears to be no issues my deck is the right width to hull.
Only where mold will end at focastle neede to be worked out

Taking the trip was a good idea, even just the enthusiasm boost was worth it

What is shown is still rough, nothing finished yet, but i thinknit is coming along ok

Thanks for comments
