I've just realised I placed my post in the Main Forum when it should have gone here.

Does anyone have any good pictures of this ship? I've checked the net but cannot resolve these 2points:

1. Colour of funnels:
Some drawings of her show the funnels as bein a pale yellow wit green and red whilst others white with green and red. My feeling, being Italia Line is that the funnels were white .....but heck the pale yellow funnels look really handsome ......

2. Top of Funnel:
This is always an issue with liners, especially the older ones. You never seem to get an aerial shot that shows how the top of the funnel was detailed.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick
I found this link
http://www.agenziabozzo.it/vecchie_navi/B-Vapore/Navi_1850-1950_B056_piroscafo_CONTE_DI_SAVOIA_in_navigazione_per_Societ%e0_Italia_cartolina_1933.htm
Funnels look definitely the same colour of superstructure

Thanks Guys.

Seems the funnels were white. Pity, I really liked the idea of pale yellow..... still one has to be accurate above all else.

Any question: What colour were the lifeboats? the b&w pictures show them in a dark shade with white coamings. The only colour picture I have found shows them as being almost black. Some pictures of models on the internet show them as being dark brown ... almost a timber colour.

Hi Patrick, nice build. And too bad that Lloyd Sabaudo's funnel colors had disappeared by the time Conte di Savoia entered service. This means you'll have to do Conte Verde or Conte Biancamano in the future :-)

Hi Pieter,

There are still a lot of ships I want to build including:

Aquitania
Ille de France
America
Queen Mary
Rex
Bremen
Windsor Castle
Oriana
Sockholm
Pacific Princess
Bremen
Dunera
Streamlined liner

Then there are a few more 1:600 kits still unbuilt in my stash... Norway, Queen Elizabeth, Titanic and Free Enterprise.
Another 8 years worth at least ....and that's assuming I manage to retire next year!

The build is progressing slowly...... this is where it has reached:

Most of the little bits and pieces have been built and the model itself has been masked and the superstructure airbrushed in white. Next step painting the decks then preparing and applyin the decals for the glazing. Plenty left to do.

Next steps will be the painting of the decks and the preparation and application of the decals for the windows.

So much left to do!

Sorry about the poor photos, the lighting was pretty poor .... I'll try to take some better ones. I have a new camera which should allow me to get a better depth of field, better focusing and generally better photos ...... once I learn how to use it! The problem is the photographer not the camera!
