I have done some more, but it doesn't look much different yet. During the mornings, I am model shipbuilding, but the afternoon is devoted to writing my next book (nothing to do with ship models!). The link takes you to a larger image, it does not matter what I try, I simply cannot enter anything above "small" here!"

That is quite an array of masts and derrick posts ...

has the rail port foredeck been knocked a teeny bit ?

or maybe my angle of view...

handsome looking ship ! :thumbs_up_1:

Happy Easter :wave_1:

Yes, it is out a bit. These things show up on the photographs, but are hardly noticeable on the actual model. I had noticed it, and may be able to correct it a bit, later on. Quite a lot of posts and derricks, but not much rigging, when you compare it to a four-masted barque! :thumbs_up_1:

She is an attractive and well balanced looking ship,
which you have transformed into an very handsome model.

In a remarkably short time!

It took far longer than anything I have ever done before though - 7 months! I kept losing interest, and would stop work for weeks at a time. In the past, it would have taken less than four weeks from start to end. The reason for the slow build was that despite asking people not to try and stake a claim to it before it was complete, I kept getting messages from collectors wanting to reserve it, pay for it even before it was complete, asking when it would be finished, and how much I thought it would cost. Eventually, it became like a millstone round my neck. Then as soon as I completed it, someone came and claimed it, and will be collecting shortly. Now I have to deal with "I really wanted that!" "Why didn't you tell me it was ready?" "I can match any price!" "Really disappointed!" "What are you going to build next?" "If you ever think of building......." etc etc etc. Must confess, I now feel really weary of it all! Probabably a lot of you suffer from the same sort of thing!

I sympathise... I run my own small business manufacturing high end boat covers-- mainly for expensive plastic fantastic luxury motoryachts

relentless pressure-- people hassling continuously......'"....when will it be ready yah di-yah-diyah!!! "
alas that is business and the means to keep me and family in food and shelter .

The model ships I build for my own selfish pleasure, the only pressure I have is from myself--wondering if I will manage to build all the ships I wish to own...!!

Building ships and letting them go ..-- arghhh! anathema to me!

my dayjob ...........making and installing canvas...

Yes, you have hit the nail on the head. I would like to keep all my models, but it is impossible. The Imperial Star was the 270th since I started counting in October 1992, and I had already built hundreds before that! Just not enough room! Really, all I ask is that they leave me alone during the builds. Once they appear on my website, they are available on a first come first served basis.
Here are just a few of them in bulk images. I am quite happy with the photographs once they are gone, and we do keep a few in our pemanent collection!

I forgot the "anchor ball" on the forestay halliards, but have now added it. Although it was sold within hours of completion, it has not been collected yet, but we do like to have them for maybe a couple of weeks. It is usually hard to let them go immediately on completion after all that work.
