Has being a month since the last update pic progress of the second section, the first pic is of the last bulkhead with the shave of the bow in it, I do plan to rebuild the bow section with the new Technic on how I be marking and cutting out the bulkheads for no on to the stern.

On the bow section I made the main deck park of the keel section covering the keel first, found out the keel channels was too tight and couldn't pull the 18mm
square dowel out without damaging the bow, will start rebuilding the bow after I finish the second section which isn't long away.

Only have two more bulkheads to cut out and will start on the access ramp from the top deck to the main deck, I need to glue in place the upper deck floor to glue in the the wall divider on the ramp upper deck, be better the floor be in one whole piece. Before I start painting the upper deck floor will mark where the divider wall will go. Now I be able to glue the upper floor in place, be the same for the main deck floor, the second last pic showing the ramp the mark line is the width of the ramp and the width of the ramp the top frame of the bulkhead be cut away after the wall is in place.

Still very hot here, no work on my layout, only doing a bit on the bridge of a afternoon.

Stage 2 of my Ro, Ro ship build last bulkhead was glued in last night, Wednesday night I will finish the last side panels of the hull making it easier to glue in the send plating, hull thickness to three mm's thick.

This will make the section section strong and not being too heavy, first pic looking down on the section section three decks, second pic close up of the main deck frame work, last pic of the Upper deck what I be working on neck, still a few weeks of work ahead.

The main deck has to have wall cladding glued in place, I might get the main deck out the way first, at lest it will be easier to paint and mark the the trailer lanes before gluing the main deck floor in place, on a high

Hi Will, thanks, she will take more shape when the third section is built, I have some work still on the section section ramp.

Wont be painting the ship till the hull is finished, she has a blue hull with from the upper deck up to the bridge, I am thinking of rebuilding the Bow section, want to fix up a few mistakes.

You are the second Policeman I know in NSW now, my niece's partner is a Police woman, they live on the coast down form Sydney

I have being busy working on a track railer which is powered so I can drive the whole train onto the layout track in one full unit, the train is pretty hard to connect together has draw bars.

Back working on the ship tomorrow night, have to buy more cardboard, go through about 6 sheets per section, will have o list how many sheets on the third section..

Have being working on the first ramp from top deck to upper deck, have finished building it on the second section, will have to wait till I build the third section before I can finish the first ramp and start the section ramp from upper deck to main deck stern ramp.

Has anyone got any idea on modeling working hydraulic rams, I have four on this ship, be awesome if they work with air.

When the ship is finished I plan to model a wharf with the ship unloading, this model will take me years to complete.

First pic of the real ships first ramp access to the upper deck and my model, they actually tie down trailers on the ramp as well, I will do the same, plan to model my own trailers to save money and other loads, also another of the ships cargo is paper rolls.

A big milestone, I have finished gluing in the center keel last night, wow , she is going to be a stunning ship when built, 14 bulkheads to go the stern bulk head be the hardest bulkhead with the oval holes for for the hydraulic rams.

I am thinking of using servo's with cable to operate the opening stern ramps, only need to power one ram per ramp, I can hide the servo's, if anyone can help me I be grateful, working wow working ramps.

Never thought I get this far after a rocky start, I am nearly there, yes still plan to rebuild the bow, fixing up some mistakes, she will look mach better with the new bow.

Will make a start on the stern being a challenge, she be a heavy model to pick up, way to go with the double 18 mm square dowel reinforcing the keel .

I decided to make a start on the stern bulkhead, a lot more work than I thought, ready to cut out , mut I need to mark the second half first before cutting, cau the second one straight after and glue the two halves together, I will working on the stern section first, a lot of work a head.

Pretty sure I have figured out how I am going to have fully work stern ramps, there is enough room to fit a motor and gearbox between the main deck and waterline plate, the hydraulic rams be for show.

When I build the ramps the framework will have a L shape where the ramp hinges onto the main deck, hopefully a servo will work, anyone got any ideas be a big help, I be building the stern ramp out out of styrene

It was a lot of work to get the rams in the right spot as well, pics were a big help,I am going to do some mock-up stern ramps first to see what works best.

I am now working on the stern ramp, is going to take a while, the ramp will have to made out of styrene in stead of cardboard, the small frames for the stern ramp can't take the hole drilling not strong enough. Thinking of doing the ramp decking out styrene as well, have, be an issue with the brackets for the hydronics rams be out of styrene as well.

Still haven't figured out how to motorise the ramps opening and closing, any ideas.

Three more long beams to cut and glue in place, like challengers, won't be the same way as the ship is.

Winter is here ,but you wouldn't think so next week 28 degrees durling the more rain coming, Monday we had 16 during the day.

Hi Will, many thanks she is coming along very slowly indeed, not rushing at all. Has being a while since my last up date, had some set backs nursing a bad cut on my leg and being in hospital for a few days, good to be home. Sunday night I got stuck into rebuilding the double stern ramp had some issues, has working out in the after a few attempts, the hinges were a pain, very close to the ships hinges.

There are about six all up on the double ramp, will only be needing two, other juse be there for show, tomorrow night will start on the single ramp, mark the beams and cross beams then I be able to glue the stern bulkhead in place, will first make up the second end bulkhead so I can join both up mainly for strengthening.

The first two and third pic of the real ships ramp when down showing the gap, my gap in 7mm's, have to figure out how to make the hinges, will cut the top of the ramp to ft the bridge plates flush, still a lot of work a head on the especially under neath the ramps.

The third and second last pics of the double ramp in the closed position, once the hydraulic rams are in place will hold the ramp closed.

Thanks, I have being working on the stern section cutting out and making the bulkheads, be a few, will make what I need and then glue them onto the keel base plate, at ot of work like the bow section.

Yeah I have made the hinges, close to the the ones on the ship, marked and cut the slots for the hydraulic rams, needs to be tided up, will do that when the bulkhead is glued in place, the hinges on the ship go right down to the plat the bloke was standing on, I will do the same.

Have you being doing any work on your layout before it gets too hot and how is the destroyer going is it finished, have you seen on TV that at the news agent you can buy a mag on the Bismark Battle ship every month of week, be pretty costly ship when built,will look into it to see if it is worth the effort.

Was going to work on the ship tonight, after talking to my sister and texting to a mate blew that iea out, have to wait till Saturday night buuilding a new bridge, keep an eye out for your email will send you some pics.

Hi Chris, many thanks will for sure, I am working on the stern section, the ship I building in 4 sections have four more bulkheads to cut out and glue in place, will be bracing each bulkhead as I go, I can get two bulkheads out of one sheet of 1mm cardboard.

I cut out two halfs and glue them together, making the bulkheads 2mm thick, she is 2.150 metres long by 305 mm beam, height about 15 inches high from water line, I plan to build a remote control model of the same ship, this build is a learning curve,, scale is 1/87 scale, my other main hobby is model trains.

Have the trailers and the containers, be working on other loads, they have a cassette system where the put stuff on line the wind turbine parts and trains, pluss paper rolls.

its been a while for both us. Haven't had the time to put into mine for a while but have bought the uni joints to connect my newly bought motors to the prop shafts and I will shortly begin cutting my hull to install it all. Glad to see more progress on your ship - it is certainly more complicated than mine!. What are you going to use for the hydraulic rams? I guess it will be opening remotely or by hand?. Yeah has, I have started work on the ship again , it is slow work when having to cut the bulkheads out of cardboard and then glue them in place adding support card takes time. Last night I glued in place the second bulkhead and cut the middle pieces that strengthen two bulkheads, haven't starboard side yet was getting pretty hot with the light .

Where the trailer is, it be a lot higher to where it is in the pic, the second pic is where I am working on my model of the ship, the single ramp ends into the next section, can't glue the ramp into place till all the bulkheads are finished will take a couple about a week.

I plan use either plastic or brass tubes with brass rods for the hydraulic rams , hopping the hobby shop will sell brass pieces for the end of the ram to hold it in place same at the top of the ram, going to the hobby shop in a couple of weeks hanging out till then. I need to buy more HO scale Peco track joiners and plastic joiners will send you some progress pics doing great guns,working on the layout today, working on the northern ramp coming off the bridge to the back of the layout dropping 7 inches have dropped down 3 inches already 4 inches to go on a 40 foot ramp.

Look forward to seeing those progress pics of you gluing the prop shafts in place.

Advancing well since last port, the single ramp is now in place and glued in place two more bulkheads from the stern bulkhead, being working on the divider wall for the single ramp, not easy, but finely making progress, the wall is not straight down near the single ramp stern bulkhead the wall goes on an angle for a couple of bulkheads and then straight for 24 mm's

Pic 7 links up 4,5 and 6 pics, pics 5 and 6 the join of the wall you wont see as I will be gluing in place a second wall making the wall 2 mm's thick, on the plan pic 7 the first arrow is where the join is and second arrow is where the wall will finish and goes straight.

Tonight I will finish the wall and the next bulkhead will go where the second arrow is, sure a lot of work but worth the effort, is oo hot to work on my train layout, the weekend is out 35 degrees ouch be in the nice cool hobby room.

Being a while since last update, just moved to a new address and settling in, I have closed in the wall between the main deck and single ramp, only have two more bulkheads to cut out and glue in place, takes time, hopefully back into ship building tonight.


The first pic of the real ship where I am working on the model, pic one and two is the start of the star case to the upper deck, pic two where the cut out is to the end bulkhead is the stern rope room, lots of detail there, there is three level set of steps to the rope room. Once the last bulkhead is in place will cut out the main deck and upper deck floor, paint and mark the trailer lanes.

Hi will, many thanks yeah I started the building program Wednesday night after a 10 week absence, before Christmas moved to a new address not far away in the next suburb, to a unit, has a good size back yard big enough for my layout which has to be rebuild, pic to follow, keep an eye out for your email.

Last night finished cutting out and gluing the together two pieces that made up the bulkhead and cut and glued the frame work between the two bulkheads, I make use of the off cuts.


How is your ship build going.

Hope you weren't to affected with those bad bush fires, most of NSW burnt out. don't here of any fires burning up here, we have had wild weather, 220 mm's in two days
