I'm halfway through my scratchbuild of the Maxim Gorky. I want to finish her in the Soviet colour scheme ..... white funnel with red band and yellow hammer and sickle. I have a query about the cheat line along the hull and the hull below the waterline. In some photos these appear to be a shade of green and in some a shade of blue. Does anyone have any idea what the actual colours were? I have another query about the decks. These appear in the photos to be green but I have seen pictures of some models showing the upper decks as being timber.

Any information would be really helpful.

Thanks

Thanks Rob, They certainly do seem to be green ...........any ideas about the cheatline along the hull and the aera below the waterline? I am tending towards blue since the name on the bow appears blue ............However I'd like to be sure before I go ahead and paint the model.

Hi Patrick,

I'd actually tend to green for the line and the name, looking at this pic:

Also found this one, which also appears green, although difficult to say I guess. The boot topping, which really is blue, doesn't look that different in shade.

Just a had a quick scoot around the net

tricky....

here is a useful youtube link-0-showing good details
https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=cl6uaqDhb0c

this is worth a look

the ' trim lines' could well have been a aqua jade green...
but in soviet times I think the boot-topline was also green

Beautiful work on the Gorky Patrick. One of my favorites. What a fleet of liners you have built in your shipyard.
