I like this camo
What are the colors? I think I can recognize two: 507A and 507C. You was using airbrush?

Yep it's airbrushed, I've just updgraded to an Iwata HP-C from an Aztek A470 and the new brush is absolutely superb. The colours are actually MS2, MS4a and B6. G10 wood decks and teak wood decks. All the paints are WEM colourcoat enamels.

I'm glad to see how you've used the black plasticard, too! I like it for templates and transverse hull sections, especially.

As a builder of an earlier-period HMS Ajax, most of which is from scratch, I really appreciate what you're doing with your excellent project.

Beautiful job!

Hi Dan,

Is that the same Ajax or one of the earlier ships?

I'm being driven mad by rigging & thought it was time for a break - I'm also amazed that I got it done without demolishing the radar aerials (yet)...

Here are a few quick shots to show everything coming together - so far it all fits!

Andrew:

Love your Ajax!

Was just wondering if photos of the build sequence are available elsewhere on the internet, as the links to the photos in this thread are now broken, and the photos cannot be viewed.

I'm now beating myself for not having downloaded them when they were first posted.

Please advise.

Many thanks!

Mike E.

Try sending him a pm. He may no longer have the picture site where he posted from.
Good luck!

2007 is a long timeback-- and it may well be that Mr Ayling no longer builds model ships...?

anyhow

here is the link posted by Martin above, --again--the link to the completed model of his HMS Ajaxhere at Modelwarships.com
on page 2 there are some ' in-construction images as well

http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery ... index.html

If you the click on his name on that gallery page it will take you to his model index page here at MW.com
at the bottom of which is his e-mail address !

Good luck and best wishes

Jim Baumann :wave_1:
