Very nice work at this small scale! Somehow your posted photo is not visible at once on my computer and I must scan around. As always, rigging seems to be a challenge, congratulations on a clean and nicely painted ship!

Regards: Tom

Thanks, I seem to be doing something wrong when uploading.

Shrink the picture using Ctrl and the wheel on the mouse ...

In the meantime any idea what it is I'm doing wrong?

THAT explains why I missed it...

you posted it today 22 Aug!! and no build thread or am I missing summat?

I think--from what I can see--this might be your sharpest liner yet to date...? :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Best wishes with the new SS Southern Cross project!

The German Liner Bremen was featured in the early part of Herman Wouk's Novel; "Winds of War". Interesting she has a scouting plane, maybe useful in iceberg country or delivering mail before port landing.

Best regards: Tom

Hi Jim, I've been unable to post pics for some time. I used to use Photobox and it stopped working for me. Finally decided to do something about it.
I sent in some pics of the Lafayette and Bremen some time ago but there clearly is a huge backlog. I therefore posted some in the Gen Forum. I'll try to post some of the Southern Cross build as it progresses.

The plane used to be launched when the ship was some distance from the shore and would deliver mail a few hours before the ship docked. A bit of a gimmick really. It used to take time to pop the plane onto a barge and haul it back onto the catapault again. This used to affect the ship's turnaround.

It was discontinued after the plane was lost with the crew.

It was a Heinkel He12.

Yep, a great model of a great steamer! Ahh, those glorious days (at least for 1st class passengers) of transatlantic crossings.

I had suspected that the plane was used to deliver mail a little early. The Titanic Wireless operators were engaged in sending telegrams for similar purpose.

A very nice Bremen. How did you make the catapult?

Yes build information is a great part of this area of the forum. The greatest thing active builders can share is the zero to finished techniques, including all the stuff that didn't;t work and backtracks.

Best regards: Tom

Stretched sprue. I had to build two before I was happy with the result. It has over 100 parts. I estimate there are more than 3,000 individual bits of plastic making up that model.
