Well, how to get her to the water

I am booking a small truck!

But, I need a safe transport frame to transport her on
Following photos show my efforts, cost, less than 80 dollars, (but I do have to put wheels on it yet, which will be a little expensive)
September 5th, Hubertus model boat Naval day , is sail day, 8 years almost exactly from keel laying
Shared a beer with my best friend who has shared many over the journey, its been a long, long road

Cannot wait, no matter what happens, to wet her keel properly

very creative use of old bed frames mate!! I suggest either Bunnings or Supercheap for some trolley wheels. Might be cheapest to buy a couple of the cheaper hand carts and use the wheels and axles off em...

PS might pay to add some padded vertical poles either side of hull to stop her moving side ways when being transported.

Sail day

Well, its been a steep learning curve

thanks to great help from neighbours and friends, we trucked Yamato to the lake
120 kilos of ballast, 4 motor bike batteries, and she still needs more ballast

Guns worked, initially port motors did not!....until I put the connection in the right way!

Not a total success......I got about 20 minutes running in until a full astern trial, when I lost a coupling on stbd outer

But for a first trial, not to bad.
Unloading the batteries I dropped one and broke a bit of deck, repairable

Re doing the couplings is going to be a major pain..........but where there is a will, there is a way
Yamato , I feel, is done, another day out in late November....

The trailer worked brilliantly, to even get to lake undamaged was a challenge.
I think most were impressed
I truly felt great satisfaction to finally finish this journey........as I have said, a steep learning curve.....the next one will be better!

Well done Herbie. Wish I was able to have seen her run but came to late. At least I stopped you losing your outer prop.
I tried to run my model only to forget to attach my arel to my mast. And stupid me reversed over it chopping it to bits. Oh well back to the repair bench like you.

repairs to that cursed shaft underway, I cut a hole in hull, have removed offending rubber coupling, am awaiting new metal ones

Found this far easier, and cheaper than disturbing all that work on the deck
(BIG LESSON LEARNT TO BE APPLIED TO NEXT BUILD!!! steep learning curve and all that
next sail 28th November, TF72 at wentworth falls.
