Port holes done, once I figured out how to stop the glass chipping around them as I drilled the holes (DON'Tuse a pilot hole) this went really well. Interesting, every drawing, model I have seen shows a cowl? over the top of the porthole Close up photos of the wreck show plain holes, with the glass set well back into the hull Have begun the bilge keels, scary cutting more holes, but they too are coming along Will glass in new year Then, its the motors and shafts ect

Quote: shows a cowl? over the top of the porthole They're referred to as "eyebrows". Basically to channel rainwater away from the glass.

Ok Interesting photo as the wreck photos of same Area do not show them...... Anyway, another question At 1/72 scale just how fast in real life is 30 knots, I just can't Do the maths Last sail of kirishima seemed too slow, the bow wave and wake seemed a lot less than photos show, thinking of bigger Props Yamato which is a fair bit faster seemed about right I'd love to know at 30 knot scale speed how long to cover 50 netres |

30 knots is 30 nautical miles in one hour. A nautical mile is 1853 meters, so 30 knots is 30 x 1853 meters per hour = 55590 meters/hour. If you just divide this by 72 you get 55590/72 = 772.1 meters per hour. 60 minutes/772.1 meters : X minutes/50 meters X = 60 * 50/772.1 = 3.89 minutes. Phil PS: I see videos of R/C model warships skimping along like they are pulling water skiers, and they look ridiculous in my opinion. Ships don't move very fast, even at maximum speed. And they rarely move at maximum speed. The cruiser I was on was capable of 32 knots - but it shook and vibrated a lot! It was hard on everything in the ship. Mostly we traveled at 15-20 knots. It took us four days to go from Yokosuka, Japan, to DaNang Vietnam. A subsonic airplane could make it in about 2 1/2 hours. Ships are slow. |

The bog looks messy as :censored_2:, but it works motors, shafts, couplings and rudders installed I feel a major milestone achieved
