Hi ozpirate thank you by the kind words.
well i use the 0.5mm and the 0.8mm to circular walls. i using 1mm in the circular bridge of Bismarck with success.
but you have in mind he tickness of styrene i use is acording the platform or piece you are doing, example: in the searchlight platform of bridge i use 0.5mm. To revest the funnel( i still don't do) i am use 0.8mm i think.'as i said i use 1mm in the circular platform of the model.
no i don't use any hot font or hot water to bend. i bend in cold process. the hot water help certainly but it's not my process.
the secret is make a perfect soft curve, and correcting this curve don't be hard corner cause can danificate the styrene belt used to revest the piece. when you make a soft curve don't have any trouble.
but you have in mind when more tickness you use more complex is to do it.
i never use more than 1mm. Using 1mm it makes very strong a contrary force. you need glue first a part straight line using a good styrene glue. it leaves to dry a little after you can reinforce this part with a litlle bit of cianoacrylate. just use few ciano very feel. just prevent a strong gluig in the moment. after many hours what goes hold the part is the styrene glue you use before.
well after you can gluing the round part and holding with the hands or another tool you prefer, i prefer use the hands. after holding just minutes you can add again the cyano(very litte too) and continuing the process. Don't forget to measure the lenght of belt you use for a circular piece and leave a excess of each side to cut later. The excess is necessary. Too i make a pencil line and glue using this line to make a good gluing and aligned too.
you can use too bend(using a hot font of your preference) to broke (in part) a resistence of styrene in the round part. but you can use it when you are bending a large part of styrene and using too 0.8 or 1mm. i never need use 1.5 is very strong the contrary force.
i think this help you. any thing please ask me.
i am post some pictures to explain what tickness i use ok?
