Got some detailing done over the last couple of evenings!! (must be a road trip comimg up....)

Have modified the SPG-51D targeting radar's to resemble the units aboard CGN36 after she had the NTU (New Threat Upgrade) equipment added in her 92'-93' refit (See pic). Plus have made up the two transformer like objects located at the midships. (also see pic...)

Cheers Bruce

Cheers Mate,

Progress is slow due to trying to reorganize workshop in a more effective way (which has made it temporarily disorganized... :doh_1: :doh_1: )

Here are a some more pix from June road trip....Weather permitting I might give her a run on Sunday.

Cheers Bruce

G'day Dave,
Paul sent me some pix a little while back. He has done a magnifico job on her!! :cool_1: :cool_1:

I would like to do her sister USS Albany CG-10 one day....the hull plans are all drawn I just don't have the space right now with the current projects...CGN9,CGN36, a salvage tug, Type23 FFG, and my mates HMAS ANZAC. Which I was working on tonight making the fwd lattice mast what a fiddly PITA!! just the top pole part to do (plus of course some detailing on it)

Even with my large work space once it gets messy, you start losing usable bench space!!

Cheers Bruce :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

I have been busy with work....got to pay for toys some how! And working on other peoples stuff, but have been doing some research on the Shapeways 3D printing site and came across a fellow selling a 96scale ASROC launcher! So I contacted him and got it resized in 72 scale! After some initial teething problems dimentionally, I was happy to find a box waiting for me when I got home after work! Here are a couple of pix of the ASROC test sitting on CALIFORNIA.

Cheers Bruce

PS I also have a rather large project turning up tomorrow! So hopefully get some pics up on weekend.

Excellent work as always.

Of course, I do have an affinity for your work as you are building two of the CGNs I served on...

I would note that California lost her ASROC launcher in the NTU refit, but that is a beautiful ASROC box.

Thanks mate! Yeah I was aware that the ASROC got turfed after NTU, but using some 'What if' I will have her as NTU+ With ASROC upgraded. The Space looks wrong empty (SoCal looks bizarre with ASROC reload house gone too!

Cheers Bruce

An Actual update! :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo: Got some detailing work built for her yesterday!!! Sketched out the cable ducting, piping and platform locations in pencil first. Then set about building the center cable trunk.....8hrs (and a couple of packets of evergreen :heh: :heh: ) later it was done!! Attached it to its location on back of fwd super structure this morning and also fitted a couple of what appear to be exhausts for backup generators...

Still need to make a couple of large vent/ducts on either side...

here are some pix...
