June 19th, 2014, today, is the 70th Anniversary of the decisive naval battle of the Philippine Sea from 1944. This part-carrier battle, part-sub battle saw 3 Japanese carriers sunk and over 450 Japanese planes shot down by USN carrier aircraft, as we all know. It is also known as the "Marianas Turkey Shoot".
