More Than 10,000 People Sign Petition To Save Amphibious Assault Ships

Fri, 27/10/2017 - 14:31

More than 10,000 people have signed a petition to save the Royal Navy's two amphibious assault ships as well as stopping alleged plans to cut 1,000 Royal Marines.

According to reports, the move would save money and free up crew for the two new aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.

Ministers carrying out a review of the country's defence forces insist the rumours are 'pure speculation'.

However, Government is legally obliged to officially respond to all petitions that get more than 10,000 signatures.

(...SNIPPED)
