According to NavWeaps, Tirpitz carried both FuMO 23 and FuMO 27 radars. Question (which I can't seem to find by an internet search): While I know that radars could traverse, would they be able to "tilt" up and down at all? Or would they be fixed on the vertical axis and only rotate on the horizontal axis? Apologies if I'm getting the terminology wrong.

Thanks!

Martin, while I'm not an expert on German radars, there are some that can tilt up and down, but I don't believe it is a constant motion, just moving to a different angle for height finding. I think the SPS-8 could tilt, but I'd have to look it up to be sure. Modern radars don't typically tilt as they can adjust electronically.
