Another Russian relic, here from the time of the Titanic... Recovering nuclear payloads?

The Russian Navy deploys a unique 110 year old ship the Kommuna (Коммуна) (1912) to investigate the wreck of the Moskva. Probably carrying a DSRV minisub.

Oh yes, the old Kommuna! Ex 'Volkhov' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_salvage_ship_Kommuna
THIS is a really interesting ship from model building perspective, sister ship (roughly, and larger) to the SMS Vulkan: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=154091 Enjoy the build by Jim Baumann going on, almost finished!

I could even fancy a redo of Katarzyna's build: http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/dio/other/VulkanUFO-350-km/index.htm
with the Vulkan hovering over something resembling the Moskva...

Didn't we agree not to build the invaders' ships?

More Moskva sinking overanalysis from the world's armchair admirals:

Business Insider

Ukraine's sinking of the Russian flagship Moskva is a 'wake-up call' for the world's top navies, experts say
Sam Fellman

The cruiser Moskva's sinking is a "wake-up call" to powerful navies like those of the US and UK.

Ukraine showed a weaker adversary doesn't need advanced capabilities to neutralize powerful warships.

"It only takes one missile to essentially sink or at least mission-kill a ship," a naval expert said.

The final image of the guided missile cruiser named for Russia's capital is wretched: a ship devoid of its crew listing ominously to port, black smoke obscuring its superstructure and the fearsome missiles on its deck.

The Moskva, the Black Sea flagship, sank not long after.

One or two relatively unsophisticated Ukrainian missiles claimed one of the largest warships sunk in combat since World War II. The disaster — the causes and timeline of which are being suppressed by the same Russian authorities who insist they are not at war — is in part a likely outcome of a complacent naval force and outdated ships and systems.

But it is also an unmistakable warning — that today's run-of-the-mill missiles and commercial data systems can knock even the world's top warships out of a fight.

They said the same over a hundred years ago with the development of the self propelled torpedo.

I dont know what collective "we" agreed on, yet I have ordered Moskva 1/700 from Trumpeter right away the movement Moskva was destroyed.
I plan to convert it and build it as "Ukraina" perhaps. Hope I dont fail the morality test set out above... :wave_1:

I have a nice Delta IV submarine in 1/350 to do, I'll put it aground on the beach, but I need a tractor in 1/350. Does anyone know if there are tractors in 1/350?

But these are not typical Ukrainian farm tractors as those famous for capturing Russian tanks!

What you think about these?

Thank you Maarten and Maxim. The one I was looking for is very similar to the one from Shapeways.

I believe they are of the John Deere brand, just the ones that the Russian forces stole from various places to take back to their territory.

At the moment I am with another project and looking for information for that.

Ukraine claims to have destroyed 2 raptor class patrol boats near snake island, using bayraktar drones.

The destruction of the cruiser Moskva and the two patrol boats recently may have temporarily delayed Putin's naval timetable...

Russia struggles to turn Black Sea rule into amphibious attack
AFP - 19h ago

Russia may rule the Black Sea but any amphibious assault on the Ukrainian coast seems risky so long as Kyiv's defences threaten any warships that venture too close, experts say.
According to British intelligence sources, Russia operates around 20 warships in the Black Sea, although the numbers are static as Turkey, which controls the Bosphorus, blocks any access by vessels belonging to a warring party.

Apart from Russia, all the other Black Sea countries already belong to NATO or hope to join it, but this has not cowed Moscow's claim on supremacy.

American intel played a role in sinking of Russian warship: reports
Caroline Vakil - 5h ago

American intelligence played a role in Ukraine targeting and ultimately sinking the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, according to multiple news reports, an indication of how U.S. assistance has made tangible impacts amid Russia’s ongoing invasion in Ukraine.

U.S. officials that spoke with NBC News, which was the first to report about the development, and The New York Times indicated that the United States helped confirm Ukrainian targeting data for the ship.

Officials that spoke to NBC News said that the decision to attack the Moskva did not involve the U.S. and that it was not aware ahead of time that Ukraine would target the Russian warship.

The Moskva sank last month after it was hit by two Neptune missiles fired by Ukrainian forces, according to U.S. and Ukrainian officials, causing it to explode and catch fire. The loss of the ship was considered a major blow to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

Interesting analysis:

Warship Moskva was Blind to Ukrainian Missile Attack, Analysis Shows:

https://news.usni.org/2022/05/05/warshi ... ysis-shows

"Shortly after the sinking, reports emerged that a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon was in the area before the attack, suggesting that the U.S. may have provided detailed targeting information to the Ukrainians to target the ship.

Carlson said while the U.S. could give Ukrainian forces a general idea of where the ship was, it could not provide necessary tracking information to the Neptunes because P-8s datalinks were incompatible."
