Well, didn't really see it yet, so I guess I'll make the announcement.

The first new frigate of the Admiral Gorshkov class has been launched. She's about 40% complete and it'll take a while before she'll enter service. The second of class, Admiral Kasatanov, is also under construction. From what we can see, she'll be fitted with a 32 cell Shtil-1/Uragan-M SAM system as well as two Palma (or Kashtan with Optical guidance) and a 16 cell VLS for Klub (I assume 8 anti-ship version and 8 anti-submarine in standard outfit).

Also the Alexander Nevskiy, second of the Borei class boomers was launched and is fitting out alongside. They have a pumpjet propulsion, while the first of the new Severodvinsk class SSN's was launched (three months ago), with a conventional propellor.

Seems that they are making some progress nowadays!

Perhaps the thread should be re-titled to "Russian Admiral Gorhskov type frigates"?

Advanced Russian Navy frigate Admiral Gorshkov starts final state trials

The lead ship of the Russian Navy’s 4,550-ton Project 22350 frigates, Admiral Gorshkov, has started the final set of state trials, Russian Severnaya Verf, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation, announced on Monday.

The frigate headed for the Northern Fleet’s practice region where the crew, together with navy and shipyard officials, will test the anti-aircraft and torpedo weapon systems.

Designed by the Severnoye Design Bureau, the 130-meter frigates displace 4.500 tonnes and have a cruising range of over 4,000 nautical miles. The ships will be equipped with anti-submarine and anti-ship missiles, a 130mm universal gun-mount and an embarked helicopter.

(...SNIPPED)
