Four of the older releases have been re-released with new masters - three pre-dreadnoughts of the Poltava class and Armored Cruiser Rurik II. These are completely new kits made from new research, using the 3D CAD software and CNC machines. All come with photoetch

Vladimir,

Why is it that Combrig do not supply masts and yardarms ?, and would you consider numbering the kits parts for ease of constuction ?
I really like these kits, but these two things put me off buying them.

Why would you want masts and yardarms in resin? I've built numerous Combrig kits (speaking as a modeler and not a spokesman) and resin masts and yardarms are useless - they are never 100% straight, they are fragile and are usually to thick. Not to mention that any rigging will bend them. So you are much better making them from brass rod (or any other metal wire that you are comfortable with), while not making useless parts keeps the cost of the kits down.

As to numbering the parts, I'm just the spokesman, I have nothing to do with production. I'll pass your concerns to the guys.

Combrig has released what the modelers have been asking for a while - a set of the 6" guns that came in the Askold Set as a separate kit intended as the replacement for the guns in the Varyag kit from Zvezda. There are 8 guns in the set, each gun is made up on two parts - mount and the barrel. Gun shields are not included as Varyag didn't carry them.

I see there are new masters of Gangut in 1914 fit, are there any plans to upgrade the class in WW2 fit do you know?

Wondering whether to tackle the major surgery on the HP kit.

I have the 1/350 Cerberus kit and I know it's going to be sitting on the shelf for quite a while until I can work out what parts I have to make - a ready kit enhancer would be on my purchase list if it existed.

The problem with that is that Combrig has a good production facility and personnel for resin casting, but to setup the brass turning production would be very expensive and will probably increase the price of the kits dramatically. The problem with resin kits is that they already assume that you have advanced modeling skills and hence can make the missing parts yourself. Most of the manufacturers assume that so Combrig is inline with that.

Making a separate enhancement set for the kit like Cerberus would be problematic because the total sales of these types of the kits are pretty low (which is why they were done by Combrig and not some plastic manufacturer) and to make the enhancement set for the kit that has low sales would not be economical.

Can you go into more details as to what is missing from the kit that cannot be solved by a generic PE set and some brass rod for the masts?

As I stated in my last post, I'll have to do the research, first. Also, because the ship had a few modifications over it's service, it will depend upon the period I choose as to what might or might not be needed.

I'm sorry for the late reply, I wasn't checking the board, I don't know about their exact plans on the subject, I'll ask, but as far as I know they are re-releasing most of their product lines (without the new molds through).
