Re: Model Monkey Sneak Peeks
Here's another model that will be released very soon: a 1944 superstructure for USS Pennsylvania BB-38. The design as of this writing is about 50% complete. The aft fire control tower will be included. An 01 level can be made available for those interested in it and a set of eight 5"/38 Mk.32 mounts is available now, as well as 14"/45 triple-gun turrets.
Thanks to Chad Queen for excellent 2D drawings and Martin Quinn for hi-res photographic references obtained at NARA.

Hi Steve, Any chance the Pennsylvania superstructure can be offered in 1/700? You didnt list 1/700. Hope you do!!

Re: Model Monkey Sneak Peeks
Hi Frank, since Dragon offers a decent 1944 Pennsylvania in 1/700 scale (https://www.scalemates.com/kits/108650- ... ania-bb-38), I'm not sure there is any market for my product in that scale.
Regarding Midway islands, they are in the queue. Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=164638&p=713608#p713608
Thanks for the interest!

I'd buy USS Pennsylvania 44 superstructure updates if you offer them in 1/700.

Re: Model Monkey Sneak Peeks
Okay, with Frank and chargerman on board and some messages I've received, I'm very happy to learn there is some interest in a 1/700 Pennsylvania '44 superstructure. I'll offer it in 1/700, too.
I'll offer the 01 level in 1/700 for those that want to convert an Arizona kit to Pennsy.

Re: Model Monkey Sneak Peeks
Thanks Steve. While the Dragon parts may be decent there are still some problems and they rely on PE. Just like the Dragon Arizona your parts will make the kit much better. I would take the 01 level if you do it in 1/700. Also looking forward to the Sara parts. I have an old Airfix 1/600 Forrestal that I would like to do as Sara Gulf War.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Model Monkey Sneak Peeks
More work done on 1945 Pennsylvania. The forward superstructure is seen here approaching completion. More detailing, such as below-deck structural supports and rigols, is needed and some shapes will be tweaked. The aft fire control tower and the 01 level, formerly serving as 5"/51 cal. casemates and the "boat deck", have not yet been designed but will be beginning this week. A funnel will also be designed. The funnel and former boat deck will be made available separately.

Thanks, Martin!
Getting closer... Much work yet to come. The 01 level (former boat deck), fully planked, and the 5"/38 mounts will be available separately. Some features will be adjusted. For example, the Bofors tubs will get trimmed a bit.
Although the photograph below was taken in 1943 and several features are different than the 1944-1945 model, it does offer a good view of the reconstructed superstructure. Interestingly, the shipyard reversed this photo. This is actually the starboard side.

Just for fun, here's a full-scale 3D-printed house designed to cost just $4000 USD. It is printed in very strong concrete in 12-24 hours: https://www.shapeways.com/blog/archives ... 993af5edef .
Amazing potential with nearly unlimited applications.

Thanks, Mark!
Here is the USS Pennsylvania BB-38 (1945) superstructure at about 95% complete. Some features you see here will be adjusted (Bofors tubs, etc.) and there will be further detailing (01 level bulkheads, vents, rigols, etc.) but we're in the "home stretch" now.

Re: Model Monkey Sneak Peeks
Almost done. Reshape aft Bofors tubs, add further detailing, a few tweaks here and there, and it will be released. First scale ready will be 1/350.
