Thanks, Walt!

I just found a good photo in the CASF thread that confirms a minor detail difference in the splinter shielding. Otherwise, the forward funnels are practically identical. I'll make a unique funnel for PoW with the correct shielding for her.

Steve, This may be a dumb question, but I see you have a 1/350 USS New Jersey "as built" open bridge available. How different is it from Iowa's? I have the old (old) resin conversion sets for the Tamiya Missouri to convert her to the Iowa, but your offering is so much better! Any insight would be appreciated.

Great question.

I think the open bridge for Iowa in service is a bit different than New Jersey's open bridge.

Unless the photo is mis-identified, as built, the photo in the first link below from Navsource indicates that Iowa had tubs for Mk.49 directors just like New Jersey did. But that photo may actually be of New Jersey.

In service, photos of Iowa's open bridge do not show those tubs. And Iowa has an angular platform with ribbed splinter shielding forward of the Bofors tubs (second photo) that New Jersey did not have.

For your model, you may be able to mix and match the Model Monkey bridge parts with the triangular platform from the old resin conversion you have to give you a good open bridge Iowa.

Hope this helps!

Here's the revised set of HMS Duke of York funnels in 1/350 scale, 1945 British Pacific Fleet appearance, to include integrated funnel caps. Previously, as a cost-saving measure, it was advised to use the plastic kits funnel caps. Including integrated funnel caps in the design ensures a seamless interior uptake.

The extended platform on the forward funnel supported two electrically-operated, twin-gun 20mm Oerlikon cannon mounts. Fellow Modelwarships.com sponsor Micro Master offers a beautifully detailed set of twin-gun Oerlikon cannon mounts. The extended platform on the aft funnel supported a single-gun 20mm Oerlikon cannon.

Thanks so much! I hope the island is a big help. I've got the popcorn ready and I'll be following your build.

Below are photos of the 1/700 scale USS Missouri BB-63 Bridge, 1991 Operation Desert Storm appearance.

Six new nameplates for Type 212A submarines in German Navy and Italian Navy service have been added to the catalog.
Four of the six appear below. When the names of the new Norwegian Type 212 submarines are announced, nameplates will be added for them.

Steve, received the Prince of Wales funnels today. They are fantastic and fit perfectly! Can't believe you were able to make a new revised funnel and get it to me in less than a week. Pleasure working with [and purchasing your product].

Some recent printings for classic Revell kits: fire control directors for your 1/570 scale USS North Carolina BB-55 and USS Washington BB-56, and a fairwater to help convert your 1/180 scale Gato class submarine kit to the Balao class USS Lionfish SS-298. Look closely, they all feature very subtle rivet and bolt-head detail.

unless you are reading or speaking French, it is HMCS for Canadian warships.

Good point, David. Some of my customers are French-speaking and prefer to use the French "NCSM" prefix ("Navire canadien de Sa Majesté") rather than the English "HMCS" prefix, especially those customers who live in Quebec where French is the official language. But for those that prefer nameplates with the English "HMCS" prefix, nameplates are also available for the same ships with "HMCS" before the name (see below samples).

Since Canada is officially bi-lingual, it is no surprise that photos confirm the Canadian Navy uses both prefixes. Take for example the official Facebook page for HMCS Ville de Quebec: https://www.facebook.com/NCSMVilledeQuebec332/ Also notice which prefix is used in the Facebook page link.

Yes, Canada is bi-lingual, see e.g. here photos from a visit of St. John's last year:

Yes, but the photos above show an actual ship of the Canadian navy clearly using both HMCS and NCSM ;)

Joining available nameplates for Russian destroyers Sovremenny (Современный) and Boevoy (боевой) are nameplates for all four Sovremenny-class destroyers presently active in Chinese PLAN service:

- Fuzhou 福州
- Hangzhou 杭州
- Ningbo 宁波
- Taizhou 泰州

Standard nameplates are about 70 mm in length (2.75 inches) to complement 1/700 scale ships and can be enlarged upon request. They can be printed in your choice of real metal (brass, bronze, silver-plated, gold-plated, rhodium (platinum)-plated) or inexpensive, paintable acrylic plastic.
