Thank you very much Dietrich. This is an amazing detail set. Would it be possible for Mr. Kim (or someone else who is adventurous) to show high res pictures of all the photoetch parts on a model. The "Label" picture is good but close up shots of the model would be better. Being able to download the PDF off the website is really good and has come in very handy as I can make the pictures a lot bigger but I agree with Dietrich there are still a lot of parts that aren't shown in the manual pages. I also noticed the "Label" picture doesn't use all the photoetched pieces either (doors, fire hoses and port holes for example).

As Dietrich says perhaps we need to create a Pontos support Group.

Gotta agree to the support group thing! I'll create a thread in the pictures forum; maybe we can help each other on these sets.

I haven't got far enough to start digging into the Missouri PE in a big way (other than the 20mm guns) but I'll vouch for the Veteran bofors. They are not easy to get together but they look amazing!

The pictures I've seen of the Veteran Bofors look inspiring. From the information Mr. Kim gave earlier I do believe these will be included in the advanced set. Any chance we can find out what all is in the advanced set so we know if it's worth waiting for?

The Veteran Bofors are just great! Absolutely worth the money, a model in its own.
I gave up on waiting for Pontos or Kim to provide even an answer to any possible date in the future. And I sincerely would not know what could be so spectacular in the advanced set? I'll buy the Bofors from Veteran and I will always get a set of brass screws. I built the Bismarck without the advanced set (which is also not coming....) and nobody complained!

I'm doing a commission work for a friend and just received Pontos teak wood deck detail set. All, ican say is wow. What a set...most PE stuff I ever seen in a single set, however, mine didn't include and prop blades. Is that a separate set I need to get??

The ship's propellers (screws) are not part of the Basic set. They are going to try to add it in the Advanced set, to be released (see previous pages).

Timmy, thank you for the clarification. After I started working on my friends kit...I came to conclusion that I will have to build one in 1/200 if Pontos ever did Gulf War update set. :thumbs_up_1:

Btw, anyone can recommend a good reference book for me? I have found good photo on the net but I'm bit old school as well and like to feel/hold a good book with plenty of detail photos.

Paul Stillwell's Battleship Missouri is an A+ reference for the 'Mo.

Mr Kim.

I am owner of the "standart set" for the USS Missouri.... with the blue deck. Now you announce an other set with updated parts, updated mounting instruction and several further parts....

What do you offer people like me who have the standart set already? Do I have to sell my standart set and buy another one for expensive money? Or do you offer an "update set" for people who have the standart set already?

I do not like such product policy..... people who buy the set as first ones are the bad ones now ..... :(

Kim has previously stated that the advanced set will be available as a supplement to the standard set for those that already have the standard set-- so there shouldn't be a problem.

Apparently Trumpeter doesn't have plans to release any modernized versions of an Iowa class in 1/200. Please, please Pontos release some sets so we can model some post war versions like a Vietnam War fit New Jersey or late 50's version Iowa class. Not all Iowa class fans are interested in building the WWII versions. :thumbs_up_1:

Well other Era Iowa versions are not in our plan.
And more we believe Trumper would not loose another chance to get with same hull.

But after releasing our current schedule list we would look new plan for other versions.

Thank you

Thank you Pontos for at least considering the possibility. A poster on another board that has a friend at Trumpeter indicated that Trumpeter has no plans to do a modernized 1982-91 Iowa class. I realize it would involve a lot of changes to put out a set for that time period, but a mid-late 50's and Vietnam War versions would mostly involve the masts, PE for the radar, and in the case of a 1968-69 New Jersey a few superstructure changes for the electronic warfare equipment she carried. It would be great for those of us that aren't interested in doing a WWII version. The Iowa's actually saw more action and service in the 45 years after WWII than they did during the war.

I would surely like to know when the USS Missouri advanced set will be out-- or at least when retailers will start taking pre-orders. I need to figure out what will be included and how much to budget for its purchase! According to the recent Pontos schedule, it is already overdue.

I see in another thread where the 1/200 Bismarck is close-- is the 1/200 USS Missouri advanced set getting close to release too?

I bought the Missouri when it came out, but I really love the Iowa more. Now I hear trumpeter is releasing an Iowa version of the kit. Is there any thought of doing an Iowa style bridge update for those of us who ended up with the wrong version?

Hello all,

I'm new to this board. Wanted to ask if anyone has heard more about the Pontos advanced set for the 1/200 Missouri.. I've just purchased this kit and wanted to add the Pontos set to it.

Anyone know:

What all this advance kit comes with? I've seen some of the Ponto's posts early in this thread about what they're wanting to include.. Has this been finalized with what all will be included?
If this kit will be a separate "upgrade" kit - meaning we still by the original Detail kits as well?
Will this advanced kit be offered as a complete option (including the detail set) for purchase when it comes out??
When it's coming out??

Thanks in advance,

Robert
