This 23009F1 Hood set also raise.
Currently the reference retail price is 280USD (The final retail price may differ based on region and custom conditions)
This will be raised to 320USD.

Following are expected raised price for main 1/200 scale sets.

27001F1 Bismarck Advanced 395 to 420
23006F1 HMS Nelson 260 to 280
23007F1 HMS Rodney 260 to 280
23008F1 IJN Mikasa 240 to 260

Thank you to Mr. Kim. My replacement set from Pontosmodel arrived yesterday. For others that ordered directly, for reference from the day of order until delivery (Eastern USA) was just about five weeks.

Hi Keumho Kim (or Sovereign),

Is it possible to obtain a spare fret #6? I have the 2 x fret #5 set via Sovereign, but note that some parts (notably floats) are now short - so a fret #6 would make my day...

Hopefully I'm not complicating things! :)

Iain

I too received my extra fret from Pontos, and my missing parts. Took about 5 weeks.

Thank you Mr Kim on your attention in this matter.

Is the Pontos HMS Hood #5 PE fret with parts for the larger funnel still available for purchase? I just bought the Trumpeter 1/200 Hood kit, so I'm late to this thread. Also is the Trumpeter separate larger funnel sprue going to be available again, or will I need the Shapeways larger funnel?

It's a bit spendy but I can recommend ModelMonkey's 3D printed rear funnel.

I have the replacement funnel pictured. It looks great but I found it unusable. I can't paint it no matter what I try. Also you'll need to buy both funnels as the top lip doesn't match the kits funnel. Very expensive and really not worth the money.

I purchased a second Trumpeter funnel for about $10 Aussie from a site mentioned here in the forum. It took about 12 weeks but I'm much happier with it. If you wNt my 3D replacement funnel let me know. I'm in Melbourne

Hi David, very sorry that the funnel did not work for you. PM coming your way.

Unfortunately those frets are no longer available on the site you mentioned.. any ideas what else can be used for a decent funnel replacement beside spending that much money for a 3d printed funnel?
Greetings

Depending on your skill level, if you have a second PE sheet form Pontos you can increase the size of the smaller funnel with plastic strips. Given that the funnel is covered in brass you won't need to be concerned with the detail on the funnel.

The brass funnel wraps are different sizes; if you trim one down to match the locators for the funnel rigging will be out of place. Then you have problems with the funnel interior catwalk and funnel exhaust frames being the wrong size.

In other words, unless you are a glutton for punishment it's probably just better to live with the funnels if not replacing them outright or utilizing an extra large funnel fret.

For Mr. Kim
At the lower left on page 10 of the Hood instructions, when building the boat cradles the parts 473 and 476 are obviously at right angle to the superstructure. Unfortunately, when assembled so, part 471 is not nearly wide enough. To put it another way, the distance between the cradle locating points in the plastic part is 1.65 cm wheres the distance between the locating cuts in part 471 is 1.3 cm. See attached with part 471 resting on 473 and 476. Am I right or wrong. If I have misinterpreted the instructions please kindly advise.
Should anyone be wondering, no, I am not a fast builder but simply jumped ahead doing some sub assemblies.Image

John,
We have checked today this matter and we had analized both cradle size as same though the kit has different cradle as you mentioned though one boat may be tight to install.

Thank you
Keumho Kim

Should I then relocate one or both parts (473 and/or 476) closer together by disregarding the locating point(s) on the Trumpeter part as depicted in the instructions to make part 471 fit? An easy fix. Or should I make my own wider version of 471 out of plastic strip? Also an easy fix.
Please be assured, my comment is not meant to be critical of your Hood Detail Up set as it (like the Bismarck set which I also have) is extremely good and is a highly recommended addition to the Trumpeter kit.

FYI- On the Hood front, I forgot to mention that I showed off the new Pontos detail set/instructions during last month's Hood reunion in Portsmouth, UK. Those who saw it were very impressed (as am I...it truly is the best set yet created). I also told folks about the excellent 3D printed turrets, funnels, boats, etc., that are in production (Micro Master and Model Monkey). That too was met with much interest.

Of course, I wont be starting on the 1/200 model (nor completing the 1/350 model) anytime soon...they're in storage to make room for some impending house updates which will take place this summer/autumn. It will make a good winter project! Besides, although I know tons about Hood's final configuration, I'm not necessarily a great modeler. So, I figure this will give others time to build the kit and use the detail set. By the time I get to it, there should be lots of information/advice/suggestions out there! :heh:

I just purchased the Deluxe Hood set from Pontos--

Is there anything additional I need (e.g., the funnel)?

Thanks!
