Hi All,

I've got some books about KGV class and 3 kits of 1/350 Prince of Wales and KGV from Tamiya.

The References we have are
King George V Class Battleships of Roger Chesneau
King George the Fifth Class Battleships of Alan Raven
British Battleships 1919-1945 of Ray Burt
King George V Class Battleships of V.E. Tarrant
Ray Bean's DVD vol:115...

And I've ordered Classic Warships : SC-2 King George V Class Battleships.

We would design some early versions of KGV Class.
So at this time the Basic kit may be 1/350 Tamiya Prince of Wales.

And more the first will be the Duke of York 1943 version at this series.
Mr. Park and I will try to bring this Duke of York 1943 version to SMW2012, Telford because we promised to release Duke of York version at last SMW2011 show.
So I wish you can meet and get this DoY set at the show.

After these we will also release KGV class 1944 versions or later version
For these, the Baic kit may be 1/350 Tamiya King George V.

Each set will have contents as

1. Wooden deck.
Each ship will have each own wooden deck shape.

2. Turned brass parts:
As same contents of previous Warspite detail up set, all possible parts will be realized as scribed brass parts.

3. Photo Etching parts
Mr. S.H. Park has started for this class research now.

4. Resin.
At this time some resin parts will be added for the Anchor area as Warspite.
And some more parts may be added for Duke of York.

5. Dry Transfer
Same water draft marks as Warspite.

As I mentioned above, we try to show the first product by early November.

Keep your eyes on this Thread.

If you have any suggestion or advice, please post and leave message on this thread.

Thank you
Keumho Kim

Do try to add as extra the distinctive square and cylindrical ventilators that these ships had on deck , as the one on the kits deck are merely a square blob of plastic.

This is brilliant news. :woo_hoo:

I was hoping you were going to use the PoW kit to produce a 1941 KGV at the time of the sinking of the Bismarck. A DoY at the time of the sinking of the Scharnhorst too, is more than I hoped for.

My next build, after my Warspite and Pontosmodel was going to be a 1/350 Liberty ship, but if this set is out in time, I shall be going straight in to building the KGV using my Tamiya PoW.

Kim, I bought some WEM UP projectors to convert my PoW to KGV, but they really aren`t that well detailed. Will you be producing these in resin and PE?

Regards, Dave.

Dear Mr Park,

I would also highly recommend you add to your references "Warship Volume III" (Conway Maritime Press Ltd or Naval Institute Press, UK ISBN 0-85177-204-8 - US ISBN 0-87021-977-4), which contains a four-part article by the well-known naval historian Robert Dumas on the King George V class. It illustrates the evolution of the fit of the ships and the differences between each ship very well. It is available from second-hand booksellers and not particularly expensive, but do ensure you get the hardcover volume, which is the bound edition of four softcover issues also available separately.

As a satisfied owner of three of your wonderful sets already, I look forward to the results of your new project and have no doubt it will be as successful as the previous ones.

I would ask you however to consider including larger-scale instructions to make the life of those of your customers who do not have perfect vision a little easier!

Best regards,
Anthony Polychroniadis

I'll second the request for a 1940-41 fit KGV set based on the PoW kit. The external degaussing cable is an interesting and distinctive feature during this time, there are some nice camoflage options, and the Bismarck hunt makes for a good historical point of interest, as the Scharnhorst duel does for the DoY.

Another one I'd love to see is HMS Howe in mid-late 1944 fit, converted from the KGV kit. She was the only one to wear disruptive camoflage after the removal of aircraft handling equipment, making her more interesting to my eyes than the Type B or all gray schemes that all the other ships wore in their late fits. (Actually, I've already planned to do this one - the only trouble is how to fill in the holes in the Pontos wood deck meant for the KGV's AA mounts when I rearrange them to Howe's configuration. If a set meant for Howe is to be made, I'll just wait for it.)

Almost Vents will be realized with Turned Brass or PE parts.
Don't worry! I will make you be Happy.
Thank you

All the HMS modellers have same Idea...
I will make your next project be KGV waiting Bismarck or DoY just before Being Hit by Schharnhorst.

Thank you
Kim

Early KGV(based kit PoW) Degaussing Coils will be added surely with ship name plate on stern area.
As for the late KGV Class sets(based KGC kit), we are getting references.
I cannot be sure Howe or Anson may be released. But I will remove almost the dummy deck holes of wooden deck for kit deck.
We will relaize almost Vents (rectangular shape, mushroom shape or circle type) with Turned brass or PE parts. Hope you will love these..

Thank you
Kim

Hi Kim,
Am in the process of building KGV and POW 1/350 in there own distinctive disruptive patterns usinging wem photo etch and detailing with brass barrels and wooden decks.
I look forward to the release of your KGV detail sets to see if my future builds of DOY, HOWE and Anson would be greatly improved by purchasing your products. Regards Alan

Alan,

I don't understand the meaning of "distinctive disruptive patterns".
At this time we do not determined to release Howe and Anson since there is lack of information for KGV Class.

DoY 1943 version will be released at SMW 2012 Telford.

Thank you
Kim
