Battlefleet Models - 1/350 Building

Post by NukeMM »

Harry Abbott asked me to post some pics of his newest dock accessory, an open-air storage building featuring timber frame construction and v-grove roof. It measures out to 2 1/4" long by 1 7/8" wide by 7/8" high.

There's a glimpse, here, of one of his new large, wooden box crates, too.

Keep your cargo dry with one of these shelters. I'm going to have to get some. I think it would work well as a marina boat house / shelter, too. Just cut some height off of it and put it in the water.

When will the crate set be available? I think that would be a nice addition to the cargo set that I made for my carrier interiors, and looks to be much better than the crates I made.

Hi Ryan,

They should be ready in about two weeks.

I found some imperfections in them when I molded the crates in the RTV and did a resin casting, so I am fixing that now.

Also, I will have some oil/gas storage units available.

Thank you Bill.

Yes, the building I already have as it is part of a 1/700 dock dio project I am working on.

Several of the crates will work well in 1/700 and I will have them available as such. My only concern in 1/700 is that small crates(which I have made and do not plan to produce)of wood plank construction look out of scale to me due to the wooden plank size. My only choice for 1/700 small crates would be plain or plywood crates and I am contemplating these.

The oil/gas storage units will also be available in 1/700.

Thank you Carl.

I used LifeColor navy gray for the roof and white for the interior.

Then hit it with several shades of ProModelers water-based washes( which BTW if you have not given these washes a try I whole-heartedly recommend them) of grays and browns and a little hint of green.

I will be starting my 1/350 YO-20, Tug, Barge & Liberty Ship dock scene work in progress soon.
Actually, it is all based around the new YO-20 kit.
Yes, there will be a new 1/350 barge(YF-198) & tug(YTM) (they are in their final stages of completion).

Well, back to work on the crates as I will need a lot of them.

Hi All,

I have a question on oil storage tanks.
Would you prefer the ladders, valves and pipes molded on the resin tanks or would you rather use PE ladders and valves and brass rod?

Speaking personally, I always prefer to add on PE ladders. Piping could go either way, depending on how fine the mold is.

If you can make them fine enough, I'm happy for them to be molded on. If it's to difficult then I can live with PE and brass.

Hi,

Thank you for all the replies on the tanks.

Here is what I decided to do, just plain as you can use them for both 1/700 & 1/350.
The tanks are seperate from the bases.
