Hi All,

Though started from last September but some other projects have cut in and delayed this project.
All our design staffs would focus on this with starting CV-8 Hornet.
The Enterprise or Yorktown may come along with Trmpeter's future variation kits.
Anyway this project is very huge one so it may take 3months from now so I estimate you can meet this before Summer.

One of this set will have contents as

1. Wooden deck:
Though we try to draw almost plank lines based on the 1/96 Shipyard Master plan, but we also refer the real phoos in our references.
All waterways will be realized
Stained with Blue or teaktone

2. Masking sheet:
For Flight lines, landing markings or others on the deck.

3. Turned brass parts:
All possible turned brass parts that you can image will be included...
All the barrels or Pedestals, Bitts, some Capstans, Mast/Yard sets Flag staff and so on as Pontos standards.

4. Photo Etching parts
We don't mind the the area or size..

5. Resin.
Searchlights. some guns and so on.

6. Dry Transfer decal
Water draft marks and Hull number and name

7. Etc.
With these sets, we try to do you need not buy other material as few as possible.
So some more materials may be added.

Similar sets are on our 1/350 Essex class sets.

Hello Kim,

Based off experience with the 1/350 and the White Ensign catwalk set I would offer this feedback:

Make sure the catwalks have a decent attachment point and something of a brace due to the extra weight especially around the 20mm galleries. Also the splinter shields were really difficult to get bent to match the catwalks on the 20mm areas without breaking them. So if you could address that it would be huge.

Additionally I know people who have this kit and the majority of them are looking to do the configuration after Midway that would be her final configuration. They would need two additional 20mm guns, the splinter shield on the starboard side of the island changed to place a total of eight 20mm there. The bow gun tub removed the two 20mm and changed to a 1.1" with no fire control director. That gun tub would also need to be modified. Then I do not know if it is possible but she carried TBF at Santa Cruz during the same time frame. A few 1/200 scale of those would be amazing.

This new set sounds great. And yes, it would be nice to see parts included to do USS Hornet at all the important points in her career-- Doolittle raid, Midway, and Santa Cruz battle. Of course, one thing that is needed are aircraft. The kit comes with the required number of B-25's for the Dolittle raid, but more F4F's, SBD's and TBD's are needed for Midway, and we'll also need TBF's for post-Midway Hornet. I realize that Trumpeter has said they are going to release some 1/200 aircraft, but nothing so far.

Well we test and change slightly all our PE parts 3-4 times so we will find the better and easier way to applying catwalks on the kit.
And if the kit lack the number of guns or tubs, it is no problem to add some more.

Thank you

Surely we try to add detail parts for Aircrafts as our 1/350 Essex class.
But what parts could be added is not determined yet as Trumpeter doesn't have all now.

Thank you

This is really great news Kim. I may just have to buy a kit of the Hornet now.

Any chance the excellent looking Veteran Models Quad Guns will be included?

I look forward to seeing your progress with this kit.

Chris

Kit comes without pelorus, compass, radio antennas...and could be great aircraft cockpits and hangar details...

Hanger details and cockpits would be an awesome addition.

You convinced me. I ordered a Hornet in anticipation of your detail set.

Any chance of seeing the progress you are making with this set?

Any chance we'll see a 1942 Yorktown or Enterprise conversion?

Thanks,

Bob

Throwing in a few 1/200th TBFs would really help!

Those of us wanting to do the Hornet in its Santa Cruz configuration have been stymied by the lack of suitable 1/200th aircraft.

It's either Midway or Doolittle...

Really looking forward to this set!

I concur. Is there any timeline for release of this latest set. I'll have to put progress on hold until I receive this updated PE kit.

Try to release within one month but may delay some more weeks for extra perfection.
THank you
