Actually Denton Rafts were very small...about 3ft. Could hold one man. Dundas actually managed to sit cross-legged atop his. Bob and Ted couldn't do it, so they laid on theirs.

Today I finalized 44in Searchlight.
These photos show only resin parts and the transparent glass modeling.
Some PhotoEtching parts as handles and electric wires and cross shape of glass cover will be added.
And turned brass circular base part also will be added at final set.

Did you include the clump cathead and paravane streaming devices for the focsle? These are prominent pieces of machinery that affect the course of the degaussing coil. EJ Foeth or I can post photos if you need us to.

I think you might mention similar thing as this photo coming from HMS Nelson.

And we are referring the Page 138 and Page 98 of Bruce Taylor's book and David Willis's photo on the H.M.S. Hood Association web page.

Shown here are some poor quality images depicting the clump catheads and paravane streaming devices aboard Hood. Sorry for the poor quality, but these are old scan that I had previously annotated for another project. I will have to take a closer look through my photos to see if I can find something better. Hopefully this will work for now.



In the meantime, if you have the "Anatomy of the Ship" book on Hood you will see a drawing of the clump cathead therein (towards the back I believe).

Ah.. Catheads will be included as following way.

Please be advised that a major error has just been discovered with the funnels: the fore funnel is larger than the rear funnel (bigger around). They were the same size on the actual ship. Here's the link: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=163060

We know this fact but there is no solution from Pontos.



Posted fore deck assembly is Nelson/Rodney set not Hood's for showing only similar Cathead sample.

The cathead in the photograph is from HMS Prince of Wales, but images from HMS Rodney show they are all similar.The AOTS Hood has a small drawing for reference. The cathead is small low enough that the top two railing lines are still present (the cathead is about 50% railing height), the lower railing line is only present downstream.

Generally some small parts we design intentionally a little larger as 20mm AA guns, Bollards, fairleaders etc. and this cathead also.
But I will reduce slightly the CH size from Hood's.

I think we should all applaud Pontos for their patience in producing their Hood upgrade. Just when they seem to have
nailed it, up comes yet another revelation that upsets their schedule. The end game must surely be close so lets hope
that "yet another" issue is not in the pipeline. Should be a work of art when it finally comes to the market. Lets hope Frank
and EJ will finally give the green light !!.

I agree, seems very few manufacturers take their time to get things just right, even going as far as working with the actual consumers of the product.

I'll never get over the tiny swastikas that were included at the top of the flag staffs for the Bismarck kit, insane detail!

If you advice for more perfection, we try to do before releasing.

Two things on the detail set

#1 the wood deck,

Remove the standard plank length markings that all line up, Hoods planks were not lined up like this. The planks do not match up across the beam as you can see when she is being built. This incorrect planking has been picked up on from the polish profiles by most of the deck makers.

you say that you intentionally make some parts larger. I would prefer that your parts are in scale even if there is less detail. We don't need AA guns that are manned by giants. And large sized deck fittings.

For Model Monkey

It was said earlier in this post, that the main turrets may not be accurate in dimensions, and now the funnels which look so bad. It is really noticeable when I put them on the ship. Are you going to make replacements if we can get you plans?

Mr Allen , do you have access to the info Model Monkey would need?
