Thank you, Maurice!

For those who are building straight deck, Korean War-era SCB-27 ships, some had a port side crane sponson located just aft of the midships aircraft elevator, differently shaped than the starboard crane sponson. Here you go:

And here's the starboard side crane sponson, appropriate for SCB-27 and SCB-125 ships whose aft elevator was moved outboard. This configuration is accurate for the sponson located aft of the elevator.

See above post for port-side SCB-27 sponson.

Thanks, Jodie!

I hope you'll like this, too: here's another Essex class product (and Iowa class, Forrestal class, Kitty Hawk, Constellation, Enterprise, America, John F. Kennedy, etc.):

sets of early Cold War-era life raft racks.

The models are available in several popular scales.

Great! I was already wondering how to do those when the time comes! Will order a bunch early next month. Have to count how many I will need for Intrepid.
Are you planning on doing the WWII ones as well?

cheers

Steve,

Very nice! And similar to the ones I drew up for PE with a resin molded life raft:

Hi Uwe,

Other vendors already offer WWII baskets in photo-etch and resin so I don't know if there would be any demand for them.

Nicely done, Hank!

A set of 25 is now ready for 1/200 for those that might like them.

L'Arsenal made some in 1/350 scale. The nets were resin but the baskets were PE.

While finishing up an island for USS Hornet CVS-12 (final fit appearance), 75 more metal nameplates with decorative rope border for model ships of several nationalities have been added to the catalog bringing the total to over 600 ready-to-print nameplate designs.

Nameplates can be 3D-printed in real brass, silver, or bronze, or plated in 14k gold, 18k gold or rhodium. They can also be produced in inexpensive acrylic, suitable for painting.

Link to all available ready-to-print nameplates: https://www.model-monkey.com/nameplates

Requests for other names are welcome (for planes, trains and tanks, etc., too!).

If you look closely at the base of the beautifully-made Arleigh Burke class destroyer model in this post (last image), you'll see a Model Monkey 3-D printed nameplate: viewtopic.php?p=732833#p732833

Here's how they look up close:

The official prefix of Dutch ships is either Zr. Ms. or Hr. Ms. - depending, if there is a King (Zr. Ms., now) or if there was a Queen (Hr. Ms., as in 1890-2013). "HNMLS" is an English abbreviation, not a Dutch one.

Those plates are a fantastic idea Steve :thumbs_up_1: , is there a chance to ask for a custom plate with name of the ship and year?

Hi Miguel and thanks!

Yes, custom nameplates can be done (see below). For metal plates, there are some 3D-printing limitations with respect to the size of the letters and the size of the plate, but generally most ship names and a date can be done.

For acrylic plates, there are fewer limitations, for example, the plates can be made much larger (or smaller) and more text can be added, and fonts with more delicate features can be chosen. And of course, the acrylic plates are inexpensive and can be easily painted.

Hi,

just a few comments on the German Nameplates.

Bremen was a frigate (F207), D181 was Destroyer Hamburg. There also is the newer frigate Hamburg F220.
Schleswig-Holstein is frigate F216. There was a destroyer Schleswig-Holstein D182.
Rheinland-Pfalz was frigate F209 and will be (not commissioned yet) frigate F225.
There also exists the frigate Bayern F217.

Greetings,
Jan

Thanks, Jan!

Bremen now has the correct pennant number.

Hamburg F 220 and Sachsen F 219 added.

Cheers!

There are now over 300 distinct nameplates for ships and submarines available.

I am happy to correct any errors in the existing nameplates or add a custom nameplate for your ship, plane, train, tank, space, sci-fi or car model, etc.. Certainly, there are many, many more possible ships and subjects so please limit requests for new nameplates to those you actually intend to buy.

Plastic nameplates can be enlarged to 28 cm (just over 11 inches). Metal nameplates can be enlarged to 10 cm (just under 4 inches).

With the new Revell PT-109 being released, please note that highly detailed and accurate 3D-printed torpedo tubes and Bliss-Leavitt Mk.8 torpedo warhead inserts are available for Revell PT Boat kits.

Attachment:

For those that would prefer only to replace their kit's poorly detailed torpedo tube breech doors, but keep the kit's tubes, a set of four breech doors is also available. It is not yet known if these breech doors will fit the new Revell kit's tubes well.

A PT-109 nameplate with decorative nautical rope border is also available. It can be made in real metal (brass, bronze, silver, 14k gold-plated, 18k gold-plated, or rhodium-plated) or inexpensive acrylic. Acrylic easily accepts paint in the colors of your choosing.

Nameplate: http://shpws.me/PFAI

Happy modeling!
-Steve Larsen

Happy to announce an island for USS Hornet CVS-12 is now available in 1/350 scale. The island was in this configuration during recovery of the Apollo 11 astronauts and the Apollo 12 astronauts in 1969. The island is intended to help modelers build USS Hornet CVS-12 from the Gallery Models 1/350 USS Intrepid CVS-11 kit.
