I recommend adding the CIWS mounts, both forward and aft, which were left off of several of the kits.

Also, I'd add platforms for the CIWS mounts, additional SATCOM domes, the SEARAM launchers for the FDNF ships, and the extended platforms on the SRBOC deck you see on Fitzgerald.

Also, please add brass barrels and better 5 inch mounts.

Thanks!

Mr. Seungmin Hong may be a "newbie" but he is a master. When do you expect this to be released?

I believe Pontos stated on a long previous thread that it was a 2012 final cruise set.

Oh dear, my wallet is gonna be in the corner whimpering, begging for the abuse to stop.....

I wonder out load if I might, are there plans to do sets to do the earlier ships? Is the kinda-similar-but-not-at-all-the-same Japanese Kongo and Atago classes also in line to have similar sets in the future?

pff. that's impressive... What is the approx. cost for this beauty?

A small question at the side, with regards to the Reuben James: I've bought the Academy special edition, it there a "kit" to upgrade this with the complete pontos set?

Anyone know when this set will be available for purchase from retail suppliers and possible costs? I'm bracing for a $200 price tag. :(

Can you offer a Super Deluxe Detail Set with a full brass hull? That way I can simply not buy the Trumpeter kit since you have already replaced most of it! :)

Beautiful set. Now I just need more time.

What's the relevance of that?

If you want a basic out-of-the-box plastic model just buy the Trumpeter plastic kit and build it. Sets like this are about building a vastly more impressive model than the basic kit can ever be on its own and the set happens to use a basic plastic model kit for some of the major plastic parts.

Think of it like building a Cobra kit car, then getting hung up thinking the total build cost has to be less than twice what you paid for the old wreck of a donor car you bought for its registration and a few running gear parts to overhaul.

You can also calculate like this:

Building the model OOB takes, say, 30 hours. You get a mediocre detailed model, definitely not museum quality

Building the model with such superdetail set takes at least 200 hours, and you get a museum quality superdetailed model.

In the end, cost per hour is the same ;)

Actually, to get the museum quality model, it is the same cost, whether you start with all-inclusive resin kit, or cheaper plastic+lots of goodies...
