Our second full kit is now available, this is a 1/350 Algerine class minesweeper. The kit is resin and full hull with optional early (oerlikon) or late (bofors) AA fits. Etched brass parts and a brass barrel are also included.

To ensure maximum accuracy and best fit of parts the kit has been CAD designed, 3d printed then resin cast. We are confident in saying this is one of the highest quality resin ship kits currently available.

Price is £69.95 from https://starling-models.co.uk/index.php?id_product=1308&controller=product&id_lang=1

It will just be the full hull version Jamie, but you can find various ways to bury the hull to make it waterline if you prefer that way. The 1/700 version is waterline though.

Just received my Algerine class minesweeper kit from Starling Models. I was surprised at how quickly the kit arrived from the UK. It was very well packaged and got through the postal system without any damage.

It is a very nice looking kit. I am not a rivet counter so cannot comment on the kits accuracy but the parts all look nicely finished. The bottom of the hull will require a little sanding but I have not found any holes/air bubbles in hull I received.

The instructions are in booklet form and are the best I have seen around - although this is undoubtedly helped by the relatively small number of parts used to construct the model. A real positive is the inclusion of rigging instructions - a shame more manufacturers do not do the same.

I would highly recommend this kit. It is a nice change from the aircraft carriers, battleships going around.

It will be interesting to see what other model kits Starling Models will be introducing in the future. Hint, hint Grimsby class sloops with maybe a RAN Yarra or Parramatta - in 1/350 scale of course.

Thanks for the comments and glad you like the kit, I will be sending one for review in MW next week.

There will certainly be more kits of this type with a new release to be announced at Telford and another to start design very soon, you may be pleased to hear what the latter is.
